Goldig im Glas. Kühle Nase. Sehr stark ausgeprägte tertiäre Aromen: nasser Stein, Moos, etwas Heu. Schöner Essensbegleiter, der vorher unbedingt an die Luft gehört.

Very deep and flavorful jose with notes of gooseberry, peach, lemon, orange zest, and red apples. Great acidity on the palate with citrus notes, more lemon, minerals, stone fruit, and a hint of tropical fruit. Long finish. Really excellent Sauvignon Blanc that is only starting to be in the drinking window. 94++

It is always difficult to judge Sauvignon Blanc, because it is not my preferred grape, but I think this was a great example. Gooseberry, hints of green bell pepper, very aromatic but not over the top like N-Z Sauvignon, balanced acidity (but not very high), in a good spot to drink now.

This is the most interesting white wine I’ve tried in a long time. It has a bit of everything, as the previous tasting notes suggest: a little citrus but also some more typical grassy notes; some earthiness but also a touch of oak (I do believe they use 225L); lots of minerality but also some white flower and elderflower on the nose. Mittleres Goldgelb. Die Nase ist von klassischen SB Aromen geprägt. Holunderblüte, Gras, leicht minzig, Zitronenzeste, aber auch etwas Fassaromen, leicht vanillig. Am Gaumen toller Zug und grossartige Frische - vor allem wenn man den zwar reifen aber doch recht warmen Jahrgang berücksichtigt. Wieder sehr klassisch SB mit Stachelbeere, schwarzer Johannisbeere Zitrone - aber doch recht vollmundig, von der Textur her mehr Chardonnay/Cote d’Or-Feeling. Ein toller Weisswein. Für meinen Weissweinhimmel vielleicht einen Tick zu brav und wohlerzogen, keine Ecken & Kanten.

It's been a few years since my last bottle of this and some extra cellartime has turned out to be beneficial for this one. Lemonoil, gooseberry, elderflower, succulent pears, chalky stones for minerality. Today, there is a lovely balance in its wellrounded richness and youthful freshness, its sweet and ripe fruit nores and its persistent mineral finish.

Decanted for 1 hour before the first sip. Definitively less intriguing than 2018 drank two days ago. No one, I suppose, would think this could be chardonnay; it is not as rich, more like the 'usual' SB from the Loire. Fabulous wine though, gastronomic.

Wieder sehr toll. Leichter grüner Paprika und etwas Gras deuten schon auf SB hin aber der Wein macht eigentlich den Eindruck eines grossen Chardonnay, von der reiferen, volleren Sorte. Es riecht und schmeckt nach Burgund. Der Alkohol lässt sich nicht verbergen, sticht aber nie zu deutlich oder unangenehm hervor. Ein toller Essensbegleiter, der auch gut mit rotem Fleisch geht aber am schönsten mit herzhaft zubereitetem Geflügel harmoniert. Impressive in the sense of how well it has aged and s still quite alive and healthy albeit well aged. Well secondary with evolution on the nose, still floral though, still bright and elegant though. Very pretty wine and an easy 91-92 from us.

Simply stunning Sauvignon Blanc from the Steiermark. Very typical in nose - descreet exotic notes, ripe gooseberry, almost no green peppers, but some dry straw. The palate is also very typical - again very ripe gooseberry and some exotic fruit form the concise base, plus lots of hay, herbs and a noticeable melt. Very full-bodied, great harmony, eternal length, carried by a precise acid structure that will be even better integrated in the coming years.

뽕따로 마셨는데 괜찮은 쇼비뇽블랑이라는 정도? 당도 강하지 않고 쇼블 특유의 향이 나지 않아서 괜찮은 것 같긴함 디캔팅이나 브리딩을 해야하나 싶기도 한데... 별 차이가 없을것 같음

On the nose grassy notes, ripe fruit, herbs, smoke, minerality. Very complex and layered on the palate - good acidity, very dense and quite ripe. The alcohol is noticeable, but not overpowering. Super intense and very persistent finish. Slowly drink up. 93-95

Außergewöhnlicher SB. Glaskorken, wenig von der typischen Exotik und Frucht, dafür aber umso mehr Salz & Terroir. Würde ich blind nicht auf Sauvignon Blanc tippen. Der Zieregg steht auch immer noch wie geladen im Anschlag, das ist schon krass für 12 Jahre in der Flasche. Sehe ihn aktuell nicht als einfachen Spaßmacher, sondern hochwertigen Essensbegleiter für z.B. gegrillte Wachteln. Nächste Flasche 2027.

This is sleeping !!! Tried it and found a big , fat liquid too much of everything ! back in the bottle. Second night much better but still not my adorable Zieregg. Dont touch for 2 years . Next in 2024 !! 92 ++

Quite subtle nose with chalk, lemon, lime, green apple, and grass notes. High acidity with more chalky notes, a bit of smoke, flint, more lemon, and saline character on the palate. Good finish. This has plenty going on, but it feels a bit austere at the moment. Maybe it’s missing a bit of ripeness, maybe it just needs cellar time. Quite good either way, but a bit behind other vintages of this wine.

Insensitives, dichtes Goldgelb. Druckvolle gelbe Frucht in der Nase, Pfirsich, Mirabelle, etwas Vanille. Am Gaumen eine Aromenexplosion. Wieder gelbfruchtig aber auch etwas schwarze Johannisbeere, die auch tiefe, schwarze Aromen einbringt. Tänzelnde, frische Säure, der Wein wirkt fast als hätte er etwas Restkohlensäure. Ein endloses mineralisches Finale. Ein Weltklassewein.

(SYP) - my first Austrian SB. The wine uses a glass stopper instead of cork. Perfumed, spicy and lemony. Good intensity and concentration with rather high acidity. I can feel the high alcohol content on the palate, but it isn’t unpleasant at all.

Gorgeous Sauvignon. The type that just might convince some Sauvignon-haters out there. That being said, it does have some telltale markers, as suspicions of freshly cut grass, sweat and jalapeno are detectable. Beautiful notes of elderflower, lemon, white grapefruit and white currants subsume any pungency. A bit of fresh apricot infuses the palate, but it is overall quite citrus focused. Elegant, mineral, very fine and long, this competes with the best of Sancerre and Pouilly-Fume.

Too young, needs at least 10 more years before it is ready. Right now some cilantro notes, cut grass, medium acidity with great density and length, but aromatically not yet harmonious (some notes of damp wetsuit come to mind) but has a huge potential

Stachelbeere und weisse Blüten (Hollerblüte) in der Nase. Am Gaumen tolle, präsente Säure, druckvoll in der Frucht, wieder nach Stachelbeere, Ananas aber auch dunkel nach Hollunderbeeren. Ein grossartiger Sauvignon Blanc, sowas wie ein „Mittwochen-Zieregg“.

good heavy Sauvignon - for my personal taste a bit too much acid, makes the wine almost aggressive on the palate. But Sauvignon-Lovers may like exactly that....

Druckvolle, gefühlt fast schon dunkelfruchtige Nase. Zu dicht. Am Gaumen eine Aromenexplosion, allerdings alles (im Moment) etwas überdrüber. Bombig, fett, scharfe Säure - aber tolles Potential.

Der grösste aller verkosteten Sauvignons. Druckvoll und explosiv in der Nase, Holunderblüte, Stachelbeere, sehr würzig. Am Gaumen eine Aromenexplosion. Apfel, Zitrusaromen, Stachelbeere, auch leicht grasig. Kräuterwürze und salzige Mineralik im Finale. Ein ganz, ganz grosser Sauvignon am Beginn seiner Karriere. Tag 2 - gefällt mir heute fast noch besser als gestern! Glasklar, toller Zug am Gaumen, eine Naturgewalt an Wein!

Explosive aromatics of gooseberries, herbs, minerality, sweet spices, also some flowery notes. It's full-bodied, dense and powerful, with medium-high acidity and excellent length. Ends on some beautiful saline mineral notes. Super intense, complex and pretty and just at the beginning of its drinking window.

Opened 2 bottles to compare. Both are the same. Nice light yellow colour. Very low aromatic. No sauvignon nose at all. Pleasant to drink. Drink this ASAP. Wine is not oxidised, but with aging it is loosing SB features. Opened Sattlerhof SB Gamlitzer 2015 – that is still in great shape.

Magnum. Nach einer Stunde Luft grossartige Nase nach Ananas und Stachelbeere. Aus dem Grossformat etwas verhaltener als die Normalflasche vor ein paar Wochen. An Gaumen mundfüllend, voluminös, toller Schmelz aber mit viel Frische - wieder Ananas die neue Stachelbeere. Ein toller Sauvignon, der sicher in ein paar Jahren Grossartiges zeigen wird - tolles Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis!

Tasted next to SB Ried Grassnitzberg Erste STK Lage. A bit more generous and wonderfully complex on the nose, slightly creamy, white stone fruit, gooseberry, herbs, crushed stones, smoke. On the palate again very layered and wonderfully harmonious - notes of white fruit, citrus fruit, slightly spicy, very mineral, wonderfully integrated acidity. Very fresh and bright with lots of energy and drive. Fantastic length to the finish. Amazing, but needs time. 95-96+

Tasted next to 2016 SB Zieregg. Fresh, grassy, herbal, very intense, notes of gooseberry, white currant, crushed stones. On the palate mineral, fresh, precise with good concentration of fruit and lots of energy. Very long and vibrant finish. 92-93+

A Capella (Mirko’s Store) : Super intense, lemon, kumquat, intense riesling like acidity and chardonnay type richness. Great stuff

2011 vintage

Helles Goldgelb mit grünen Reflexen. Maracujanase. Auch etwas Ananas, weisse Blüten und im Hintergrund Gras. Am Gaumen eine perfekte Balance, frische, tänzelnde Säure, druckvolle, weisse Frucht und salzige Mineralik. Ein grossartiger Sauvignon, auf Augenhöhe wenn nicht besser als Zieregg aus schwächeren Jahren.
