Last bottle in a half-case. This wine has improved tremendously over the past 3+ years and is likely in its peak window now. Overall, the experience is consistent with previous notes, only there is more pronounced aromas on the nose, delineated flavors on the palate, a good balance of acidity, texture, and tannins, and most of all, the heat on the tail has disappeared. Lovely wine. Drink now.

Improving. Still hot/unbalanced on the finish, but more candied fruit, wet earth, and a nice minerality emerging on the entry.

Drank over two days. On night one it was still tight but brought nice candied red fruit which emerged after about an hour in the decanter. On night two it was mellow and settled. Still feeling the heat on the finish, but otherwise, a solid wine. I'd drink now through 2020.

Maybe a bad bottle, but this had no structure and everything had deteriorated.

Definitely improved since April. Dark ruby and medium-bodied. Nose of dried cherries, cinnamon, clove, and spice. Palate had a nice combination of cola and tart berries with some leather and a touch of rhubarb. Finish brought back that cinnamon and clove and was not as hot as before. This time I detected a refined ash, sand, dusty layer beneath the cinnamon and clove, perhaps from the volcanic soil, which added depth and complexity. Paired with left-over turkey/chicken casserole. This wine has improved since my last bottle in March. Strong nose of strong ripe cherries, with a little funky leather and cola mixed in. On the palate, you can taste the 14.5%, but its goes well with strong red fruits and leather with a hint of mineral and smoke. Very good now, but this wine has huge pontential in maybe 2-3 more years.

Tart cherry, not as developed on the palette as some of the other '09's from this area. Not bad, though, don't really notice the heat.

I've read this was a hot vintage in Oregon and I can taste it in this 14.5 ABV Pinot. Tart cherries, even raspberries, floral, leather, same as what others are picking up. The nose is restrained and shy, mid-palate pretty smooth, but the tail is hot, tannic, and completely disjointed. Gets much better with air so highly recommend you decant 2+ hours, drink with food, or cellar for another 3-5 years. Has promise...

Wine Blogger's Conference 2012- Oregon Wines; 8/15/2012-8/18/2012 (Portland, OR) : Notes of mushroom, sandalwood and elegant red fruit. Bright and open on the palate with subtle mineral and earth. Juicy tannin and a nice finish.
