Another popsicle from WC, complete with blown cork. Amazing how well this drinks after a week to settle down. This is one of about 15-20 btls I've rcvd that is shipping now from a summer hold that froze and blew its cork. A lot of nice wine, most of it shouldn't have had to be opened for another 10 years...maybe I'll have to put together an event to commemorate all the btls I've consumed this week after the weather took …

Popped / poured. Better drinking immediately after opening than the 2004 Kilikanoon Killerman's Shiraz/Grenache. In comparison, the Fairview is softer and more delicate, with dry fruit on the nose. Medium body on the palate, with resolved tannins and a long finish. A wine that exudes elegance, this outshines the the more raw Kilikanoon by a mile at this point. Seems to have evolved significantly in the last 10 months, and for my tastes appears near its peak.

Fascinating wine in the way that it changed over a period of time. When first opened, bright almost jammy red plums, red currants, and red licorice (obviously red fruit driven) on both nose and palate. Then slowly it changed into a deep, rich, extracted wine. Black plums, rich chocolate, well integrated oak, vanilla, and toasted almond towards the finish along with a slight earthy minerality. Well balanced wine, velvety tannins, and medium-full bodied. Retail $22, but picked this up for $7. At retail this is a pretty decent wine, at sale price, its unbelievable. Both the nose (especially) and palate take me back to SA, with scorched earth on both. Medium to full bodied with good fruit, depth and complexity. For me, this was a great auction pickup. For anyone who likes SA wines, and can find this one for $15 or under, very highly recommended.

Lots going on in this bottle. Atractive meaty spice nose. Good depth with spice, cinnamon, minerality, nice acidity with a little bit of chocolate/mocha at the end. Medium well integrated tannins, with rich juicy body. A nice QPR
