Hawker night at Caroline's : Brought for a friend. Was in two minds about opening this given that previous notes said that this was not showing at the moment, but thought this was approachable albeit with the tautness of 2013s. Not the most refined champagne, but liked the zesty, energetic nature of this.

04/18 Disg, 1.8 g/l dosage. Should have read notes here before popping. The mousse is pretty rough right now...decant if you're drinking now...definitely young and needs plenty of time. On the nose: lovely vanilla cream, lemon, soft toasted hazelnut. On the palate: intense acidity, good density, but mousse is just over-the-top..soft grapefruit and good length. Don't touch again for at least 5 years.

Opened for my wife's birthday. upon opening the nose was a little reticent to show - granny smith apple, wet stone, turned soil and topnote of smoke. after breathing and warming a bit the mineral character became more pronounced and the density is apparent the medium plus body. powerful wine - will easily see it's 25th birthday in style and is likely to continue improving over time. hold.

Disg. April 2018. 1.8 g/l dosage. Very very pale straw color. Really vigorous bubbles filling out the glass. Nose of peach, brioche and some lemon candy. Lots of acidity on the front of the tongue, followed by some underripe apple and a touch of caramel on the finish. Possibly just too young or in an odd phase, but the acid (which I generally enjoy) is a bit too citrus-y and makes the wine feel a little disjointed. An hour in …

2019 Suntacular--Champagne Tasting to raise money for Laura's House : Had to add this to the database, so I wonder if these are bottles that are just making it now to the US for 2013. Disgorged 04/2018, with just under 2 g/l dosage. Pure green apple, slate, honeyed edges, zesty with good length and intensity. Good showing.

Suntacular (Frank Murray's Casa) : Chalky nose. Lean, hard, grippy palate. More secondary characters than fruit. Something like a lean stemmy red would feel but in a white. Not very approachable.

Domaine BYO feat. Charles Heidsieck (Chicago, IL) : For me, this is veering a bit on the lean side. There's a nice touch of orchard fruit here, and a slight bit of apples, but it's the acidity that juts out here, and it's just a little prickly. Perhaps with time this will integrate better?

Champagne Trip- Day 3 (Gaston Chiquet, Pierre Paillard, Marguet, JC Mouzon) (Ay, Bouzy, Ambonnay, Verzenay, Champagne, France) : Nose: The nose is fragrant and well balanced with pears, apples, limes, white florals, peaches, white fruits, saline, biscuits, brioche, mint, and crushed rocks. Taste: The feel is medium bodied with tart, high acidity. There is a lot of freshness and balance to the feel with pears, apples, limes, white florals, peaches, crushed rocks, saline, biscuits, and mint notes. Overall: This is …

Salty lemon-lime nose, bright palate with green apple and lemon-lime fruit and moderate richness. Very fresh and clearly extra brut with bright acidity, but there is a touch of fruit sweetness here that keeps things from being too severe. All the same this is clearly a Champagne meant for drinking with food. A tasty BdB that I would love to drink with sushi. It's a touch young at present but opens nicely a few hours after the cork is popped. …
