Ruby red in color. 15.6% ABV. Heady nose of red fruits, licorice, baking spices and flowers. Medium body with medium acidity. Big and rich and a touch of heat on the palate. Cherry, raspberry liqueur, chocolate truffles and pepper on the palate. Exceptional length on the finish. Big Zinfandel that should be consumed in the near term. Best over the next year or so.

PnP with 10-minute slow ox in glass. Hedonistic without being cloying, port-like or rasiny. 15.6 octane barely noticeable (served at cellar temp). Spicy with some black pepper and grilled meat on the nose - almost Syrah-like. More zin on the medium-bodied brambly palate. Nice complexity with a purity of sweet, ripe fruit that makes the mouth water. Spicy, smooth, long rich finish. Not quite as structured as expected but nice mineral notes. At peak, but well-stored bottles should provide another …

Excellent zin that is aging well. Good, balanced tannins with cranberry. Not too fruit heavy or thin.

I shared this with my wine group at Burger night and it was a hit! Over 16% alcohol, so the restaurant Somm suggested chilling it, which was a good idea. Wow! Who know that a Zin that was over 20 years old could taste this good!

Delicious wine, with a bit different flavor profile than the typical Turley Zin. I love the dynamic.

Good, not great. I expected more. Usually this is a good bottling and this was a good vintage. I feel this wine lacked the complexity and depth I usually expect.

In earlier vintages, Juvenile was one of my favorite Turley zins, despite its lower price point. This vintage is not in the same territory. It's off-putting when first opened, and gets moderately tolerable with an hour or so of oxygen. Disappointing turn in this bottling.

Great, great soft fruit that reminded me of a grenache. Basically, Zin that is not "jammy". I think that the Juvenile is one of my favorite Turley Zins as it is much more subtle and graceful than other zins.

I get that this is their entry level, but I've had much better from WA at this price point. I like their Old Vines better in this range.

Still takes 30-60 minutes to balance out the vibrancy and fruit. Mulled plum, nutmeg. Gamey and leathery notes. Strikes me as a bit removed from past Juvenile bottlings.

somewhat agree with Dino; agreeable medium body with some elegant fruit mid palate but fading on the short finish. Certainly a "drink now"

Notes of white pepper and grapefruit on the nose. On the palate, ripe juicy black fruit comes through atop the subtle grapefruit citrus. Decanted, despite Turley cellar notes saying to pop 'n pour. I would agree - didn't need much air

I was worried this might be too young, but this is the most un-Turley of the Turley wines I've tried and I loved it. Brambly fruit, pepper, light texture, nice extraction, bright acidity, and more on the elegant side. Even had a comparison to Harvest Moon, which is about as high a compliment as a Zin can get in this house. Great stuff.

Pnp'd at the end of the night for our new friend.....better with an hour of air, yet she's not a zin girl. She doesn't like the zin fruit, too black/brambly or the pepper/spice box. All the things that make zin a zin. Can't blame our new friend, she's had mostly cab experience and no zin, so she gets a Mulligan. The two of us? Ha, we love it and easily finish the bottle. The longer the night goes on, the …

6 months since my last bottle of this and scoring because it is a tad better, now. This has your more classic Turley fruit/zin spice profile. Hits a Home Run with the palate tonight. Beautiful black zin fruit, astringency, acidity and white pepper. Up a point now and I have to wonder, does it have another point in there? Will hold my last bottle another 6+ months and see......

Turley's 2018 Mead Ranch Zinfandel is a deep ruby, medium-bodied wine with impressive aromatics. Sampled from a bottle that was Vinturi-decanted, it seems to benefit from at least a couple hours of aeration at this point. Ultimately unleashing an intense bouquet of red, black and blue fruits that are accented with baking spices, orange zest, licorice and lavender potpourri, it delivers comparable flavors on the palate. Freshly acidic, softly oaked and with silky-textured tannins, it flashes no heat from its …

Red currant and raspberry fruit, and it is serious fruit, that is immediately showcased in this wine. This has a lovely mouthfeel. Very tasty wine with lots of spice (but no pepper) and a long finish.
