Feudo Arancio, Grillo, Sicily

Not very complex, but very nice and concentrated, this 100% Grillo. Aged for 5 months on its lees in steel tanks. Medium intense aromas of mango, canned pineapple, floral tones. Full bodied palate with med+ acidity, and flavours of mango, peach, white grapefruit, lemon, buttery tones. Long finish. 13% - Company Christmas dinner @ restaurant George, Oisterwijk

Savoury, earthy, mineral over slightly orchard fruit. Savoury fruit tends to fruity, lacks acidity, some mind palate burr. Hmm.

Concerning Sicilian vinifera, Grillo is an autochtonous grape, and it's become Stemmari's flagship white. "Grillo is an amazing variety; it’s a white grape with a black dress. Why? It has this incredible ability to withstand the heat, it’s really yellow, almost amber-hued with lots of tannins," says winemaker Lucio Matricardi. No detailed note. Beautifully balanced - crisp yet fruity. Easy drinking but with some complexity too. good for outdoor drinking.

Great casual weeknight sipper. Clean, crisp. Once again it was best with a slight chill.

Subtle nose of lime, honeysuckle, minerals. On the palate, this is reminiscent of a good pinot grigio, with pleasant flavors of mineral water infused with orange blossoms, wildflower honey, and powdered rocks. Quite delicate, and it was better served cold. Locally it is being unloaded at $5/per which is unbelievable QPR.
