Last bottle, purchased at the winery in 06, in my cellars since. Had forgotten about this one for some time...glad I stumbled on it. Last tasting 6 years ago. PnP, drank with Val over 2 hours. Medium ruby color, clear, some separation, mild sediment. Nose dominated by red fruits, some cedar and spice. Palate was dusted red and blue fruits, cocoa, baking spice. Some sweetness though the mid palate (guessing the Syrah). Medium weight and finish. This is an interesting …

Drinking very nicely right now. Likely at its peak, and will now begin the steady slide into oblivion.

Really big and drinking nicely right now, but will likely continue to evolve for another couple of years. But why wait?

Consistent with my previous note, and despite what others have remarked, this wine is still a bit young and is going through a rather closed period right now. Still enjoyable and a nice glass of wine, but it needs another 6 to 12 months to reawaken.

Great expression of blue and black fruits with well integrated tannins. Soft texture with notes of forest floor and wild herbs. Great wine!

Deep, dark, purple/red color. Not a real big nose, but what there is expresses classic Cabernet fruit, with a slight hint of rich earth and cedar. Velvety mouthfeel on the attack, with tannins beginning with a soft expression and exploding into a voluminous attack on the palate. Rich fruit powers through, highlighted by black plums & blackberries, a hint of ripe blueberries, and a mellowing touch of cassis. There is a long and lingering finish, emerging through coffee and cocoa, …

This is my first taste of the 2009 Persistence. Year after year, this wine is an excellent red blend (Cab Sauv, Merlot, Cab Franc, Syrah, and Petite Verdot). Dark, nearly opaque garnet. Nose of cedar, bell pepper, blackberry, and vanilla. Ripe, silky palate of blackberry, currant, and plum. Superb length. Pleasant acidity. Soft tannins. Integrated oak. Drinking well now.

Consistent with notes on the last bottle on quality, this one drank slightly younger (from memory). Red/purple color - medium color, less aging in the color on this one Palate was blackberry, cedar, licorice, spice, oak. Slight heat on mid palate. Tannins sweet and resolved. Has aged well, would drink over next couple years, will likely fade after that

At home with hamburgers...better than the last bottle, perhaps a nod to the wine's name "Persistence"...Bought direct from winery at release, has been stored in my cellar since Much bigger nose on this one than last bottle. Big black fruits, earth. Red/purple color - some fading of color at the edges. Palate was blackberry, cedar, licorice, cassis, some mint. Slight heat on mid palate. Tannins sweet and resolved. Very nice Calif Cab, would have guessed this was past its prime …

At peak at best. Still has nice color, rich nose, and medium body. I will drink my last bottle soon. This is always a nice Bordeaux blend. Drank next to a 2005 Ch. Lascombes as I love to do that relative comparison thing. Obviously old vs. new world thing. The Bordeaux has a long way to go with a tannic backbone and that earthy overtone. BUT I still love that California fruity style.

Very tight nose with good dark fruit, more of the same on the palate, dark fruit underneath, dusty, earthy, rich and concentrated taste, nice medium finish. A new release. Probably better score with a year or two in the cellar.

Probably slightly cooked, as my brother reported it smelled like ketchup when he first opened it and it had a sweet tomato taste on the mid-palate that eventually faded into a too-sweet fruitiness. Big fruity wine that seemed imbalanced & too sweet for a dry red. Have encountered this "too sweet, tomatoey" issue with a few other CA syrahs & syrah blends before, and don't know if it's just a sign of heat damage or if there's something unique about …

Opened at 6:20. Nice purple hue with sediment. Hefty nose and bold out of the bottle. Put in the decanter. Tried 30 minutes later and developing a nice long finish. Oak and cherry flavors. Medium bodied. Tried 1 hour later, 7:30. Pepperry taste coming through and tannins have smoothed out. Went to dinner. Returned home at 9:30 and poured another glass. Drinking with a homemade chocolate cake! Nice pairing.

Anise, black fruit, and a touch of cedar and vanilla on the nose. Bold fruit dominates and the wine has a quenching quality but a touch of heat. Otherwise this wine gets a 90.

This wine is an incredible blend in the Bordeaux style. Steve Reynolds does not disappoint. Rich fruit flavor, soft tannins and an amazing finish. Very smooth. Drink now and for the next few years. 12/19/12-had another bottle today--I think it needs to be consumed now--don't hold 2005 any longer. Still great--but starting to show signs of turning the corner on aging.

very dark; a lot of sediment in the bottle. Drank well. Very smooth. Its surprising that a wine this young could completely expand and fall out so fast. I agree with one of the other comments that this one needs to be consumed now.

Inky violet in colour this Bordeaux blend shows intense dark berry fruits, tobacco and white pepper aromas. The palate is medium to full bodied and silky smooth. I found blackcurrant, earthiness and spice. Very, very tasty!

NC Cindy tasting. Dark cherry color with some purple tinges. On the nose there is leather over a plum/cherry base with some maple leaf. On the palate, there is both plum and cherry, with some oak and vanilla. There are also some layers of green vegetables and a nice earthiness. I think this out-black-and-blues the two Havens wines we had. This was probably the wine of the night for me. Too expensive at $45 to be a real QPR, this …
