Monthly Tasting Group: Bordeaux and Cabs 2009 and Older (Chez Dalluge, MN) : Small pour. Boy I hadn't had one of these in awhile - 4 years to be precise. I suspect this one has been around in a cellar since way before then. Apple, apple peel, sour dough, chalk, vanilla cream, oxidative. 90+pts.

Hit of the party, everyone loved this. My last bottle and does not seem to be available anymore. Great champagne!

Corked, clearly

93 - 94 always one of my favorites. Dusty, mineral, toast, great mouthfeel and long finish. Down to my last bottle, wish it was still available. Better than many champagnes I have had that were well over double the price.

Honey, a touch of lemon zest and some almond paste. Just a hint of citrus, dusty mineral, nice finish. My last bottle and i will miss it. Very good qpr, really nice, have enjoyed every bottle and wish it was still available.

Wednesday Tasting at Kevin’s (Kevin's (Rocknroller) House). Blend 40/60 Chard/Pinot. Inviting yeasty nose with lovely Granny Smith apple/lemon aromas. Palate follows through with appealing citusy flavors. Yet to find a Prie bubbly we didn't like. WTSO home run.

A Long Overdue Wednesday Wine Lunch (Rocknroller's (Kevin & Vicki's Place)) : Light medium gold color. Drank 2 glasses over 45 minutes. This was my last bottle, disgorged early 2013 and cellared since then. I've enjoyed all of thes bottles and this was no exception, holding up nicely. Sour dough, green apple nose. The palate is medium plus bodied, with sour green apple, sour dough, yeast, chalk based minerality. More body than the straight Brut, and not as forward, though …

Wednesday Tasting at Kevin’s (Kevin's (Rocknroller) House) : Nose: Good yeasty qualities with solid minerality. Palate: Some lemons with the yeast showing. Very well balanced.

Last bottle of one of my favorite 'bubbles". Consistent in quality and taste with every other bottle I've had.

Very nice ... tasted like a cross between a shortbread cookie and a croissant.

Not as good as I remembered the last bottle but the wife loved it. Nice nose and good finish. Lots of minerals and some citrus.

Tried drinking out of actual wine glasses, really nice, much better focus of the aromas. Green apples, minerals, touch of licorice, lot of toast, probably my favorite champagne in this price range. Much better than the 06 la grande dame I opened last week and less than half the cost. Highly recommended, if you can find it.

Nose of apple, yeast, lemon/lime, and a touch of slate, same on the palate, big body, a $39 auction bottle from OK storage as the cork had shrunk upon inspection, stunning label, medium amount of large bubbles formed a slight mousse, very tasty, touch simple, good acid, with a flavorful but tart finish.

Xmas eve. Baked apple and yeast and minerals. Not a ton of bubbles. Quite nice.

Luis Tilia WTDS plus Happy Birthday to Gary and Me (Tilia) : Consistent with past experiences. I like this Prie Archange. Bold, bordering on masculine, but shows elegance and minerality as well.

Archery Summit Estate Vertical (Jason's House) : Pop and pour to start a tasting. This wine is interesting and has good complexity. There is nuts, yeast, some oxidation, and unripe stone fruit. I like this.

Everytime I pop a cork on a bottle of this I wonder why I bother buying other champagnes, at least in this price range. Nice nose, fine bubbles, marzipan, lots of toast (which I happen to love) and citrus, long finish. A very nice champagne and a great qpr, in my opinion. Highly recommend. 93--94

Medium gold color. Split a bottle over 2 hours with dinner at home. An absolute carbon copy of the last bottle I opened myself on 9/4/15: "Drinking extremely well tonight. The nose is showing green apple and citrus with moderate yeast and mild minerality. Big-Time Reds (Tilia) : After a lackluster bottle, this is back in form! A fair amount of yeast, balanced by a good amount of acid. Great balance. I like how it has such toasty notes along with bracing lemony acidity.

Pop and pour, followed for about an hour and finished the bottle the next day. There was some nice yeast, toast, waxy lemon and creamyness, but it was marked by an acrid bitterness on the finish. This bitterness did subside with time but never completely dissapeared. The next day, the bitterness was gone but so was about 1/2 of the flavor.

Toast, citrus great mouth feel, green apples and a finish the seems to cling to you lips and mouth forever. Our go to favorite champagne in this price range --$40. Absolutely nothing not to like about this and I highly recommend it.

Very high acidity. Tart miniature orange flavors. Very clean.

Small House Champagne, Oysters and Piemonte Fare (Osteria Langhe) : Full aromatic nose has baked apple, bread and some funk notes. Medium body with terrific vibrance and freshness. Apple and biscuit notes mostly, but does reveal some earthy funk on the finish.

Small-house Champagne dinner (Chicago, IL) : This was quite a bold nose, and showing lots of white fruit and florals. The palate is quite elegant, with a bit of lightness, though it doesn't mask the richness. I actually picked up more of the chardonnay on this than pinot.

Just a great NV champagne. Needs about 10 min to open up. Green apples pie dough, long long finish, nice nose, nothing not to like.

Consistent with previous notes. A masculine champagne.

Monthly Tasting Group: 2010 Vintage in France (Tilia, Mpls) : Small pour. Very good again. Consistent with 9/14/15 note.

Light gold color. Drank 2 glasses with dinner over 2 hours. Drinking extremely well tonight. The nose is showing green apple and citrus with moderate yeast and mild minerality. The palate was particularly energetic tonight, very fresh and crisp with apple, grapefruit, and lemon zest which is framed by a nice minerality, less chalky yet still quite distinct, yeast, and a nice finish. A very nice cuvee again. 91+pts.

A bunch of wines at dinner with Friends (Taste) : Light golden in color. Nice mousse of small bubbles. The nose has a nice citrus component to it. Not much in minerality. On the palate, there is more minerality and less citrus. There is some body to it. More wide than deep. It has good acidity and is refreshing. Good start to an evening.

Each time I open a bottle of this I am reminded about how much I like this champagne. Lot of toast, long finish, drinking really well, glad I have more. Great qpr in my opinion.

Monthly Tasting Group: Rieslings and Thai Food (Sen Yai Sen Lek, Mpls) : Light gold color. 2oz pour. Fairly consistent with previous notes, sour apple, citrus pith, fine bead, full bodied, very minerally, yeasty. 90+pts.

Sparkling "Wines by Joe" (Tracy's Patio) : A small pour at a tasting. Ok, this is a nice champagne, but I was maybe a little too positive about it last time. I had been drinking really low end champagne (as my note indicated) and I even admitted that it was lacking in complexity. I think I was just grateful to finally drink a Champagne with some class. Champagne and Sparklers (Tracy's, Mpls) : Light gold color. Drank a 2oz pour over 20 minutes plus. 50C/50PN, Showing apple and yeast on the nose with the palate being sour apple, briny, light and fresh, toasty, yeast, saline, citrus zest palate, leesy finish. This was good, dancing between 89 and 90pts; maybe not quite as good as some of the other Prie blends I'd say. 89+ to 90pts.

Really nice. Has become my go to champagne.

Needed about 15--20 min to unfold but then became very nice. Not a lot of diffinition in the flavors but lots of toast, nice mouth feel and pretty long finish. Just a really nice easy drinking champagne at a good price point. Would buy again.

Light gold color, larger bubbles. Drank 2 glasses over 45 minutes. This bottle was largely consistent with notes from 1/18/15. I believe this was my last bottle from a purchase 2/16/14 so likely a 2013 release. Bigger yeast and some toast on the nose with mineral. The palate is also yeasty, chalk minerality, full bodied, subtle fruit, sour apple, some edges on the finish. Some of these have been more elegant than others.

This wine does drink well for the price. Frankly, I was expecting more complexity, but I suspect that this bottle is quite young, as all WTSO NV champagnes seem to be disgorged very recently. Anyway, great precision, toast, lychee, and a hint of pineapple. There is a lot of acidity on the long finish - almost too much. I'd like to drink this again in 2-3 years. 2nd bottle, same as the first, just an outstanding champagne.

Nice acid frame, but the dough and yeast really comes out to play. Quite powerful and leaning towards masculine.

Monthly Tasting Group: Barolo & Barbaresco (Cafe Lurcat, Mpls, MN) : Light gold color. drank 1 glass over 30 minutes. Another very nice showing. Big, full bodied, with good depth, yeasty, dough, green apple, subtle pear notes, bold minerality. Lingering finish.

Wonderful champagne! Kept changing as time went by, kept getting better and better. Great mouth feel, lots of toast/yeast, long finish and lots of secondary flavors. Almost haunting in it's finish. Contacted my source and when they said they had more I ordered 6 more. One of the best champagne s I have had anywhere near this price point.

Light straw color. Loads of tiny bubbles. Reticent when cold but opened up as it came to temperature. Came across very young. Brioche and Gala apples. Bright, nice acidity with good bit if minerals. Would hold if I had more.
