Mount Mary Vineyard, Pinot Noir, Yarra Valley

Keen to try this, first for me, brought this, served blind, guesses were Burg, Chambolle, quite light in colour, beautiful delicate nose of cherries, stems, white pepper, earth, kept opening up in the Zalto, medium bodied, high acidity, very young, mellowed as night went by & was a lovely accompaniment with roast duck, better in few years time say 3-5

Moncur Cellars Pinot Noir (Bistro Moncur, Sydney) : Toasted oak, a little wild ferment, bacon fat, touches of black fruits. Juicy, fleshy, blackberry and slight blackcurrant, plenty of woody texture, long, palate nicer than the nose. Pleasant.

Beautifully silky and elegant. The 2022 is showing wonderfully right now with raspberries, red florals, cedar and spice. The palate is so elegant, alluring and incredibly silky with soft lush strawberries, raspberries, crushed roses, orange peel and a touch of sweet spices. The mid-palate shows incredible precision, yet in a soft and persistent way, finishing with elegance and grace. This reminds me so much of a high end Volnay and blind you would never guess Australia. Seppelt Sparkling Shiraz Masterclass (Zaitoune, Putney) : Pale red, slightly translucent. Raspberry creamy, lovely nose. On palate quite acidic on the tongue, almost bubbly, beautiful cream and raspberry strawberry red fruit, a little Cassis, lovely. Alcohol warmth noticeable and a little too much but it's ok.

Seppelt Sparkling Shiraz masterclass (Zaitoune, Putney) : Black cherry, cream, plenty of oak spice, a little butter, caramel. Juicy, creamy and buttery, talc textured grippy tannins, slight alcohol warmth on the finish, black cherry fruit, slightly out of whack.

Agree with others that it’s probably too soon to be drinking this wine. This was 375ml format. The experience of drinking it over an hour had 3 distinct phases… 1. Straight from bottle on opening the wine tasted very fruit driven with cherries and strawberries. Super refined and elegant but perhaps a little simple. 2. About 30-40 minutes later the wine broadened, deepened and darkened in its character. Some darker fruits, a greater breadth of mouthfeel and savory nuances emerged. …

This is darker and more broody, slight darker fruit vs the 2021. The palate feels a lot more concentrated, layered heaps of structure, yet this is shadowed by that wonderful Mount Mary elegance I have fallen in love with. Same rating as 2021 yet I have a small preference towards the 2022.

Probably still too young but very enjoyable pinot noir. Lighter elegant Pn style, very floral. strawberry, red fruits as primary, tertiary not too present as yet. Will wait to open the next bottle for a while.

A rather elegant wine: cherry/strawberry with light raspberry notes, smooth texture, just glides across the palate but has a fine tannin profile to hold it. So easy to drink - could be rather tasty as it ages and develops some secondary characteristics - but why wait ...

Very pretty floral aromas, red berry fruits. Elegant in style and classy.

Tasted at the Mount Mary Dinner, Stokehouse Q. This wine was a deep cherry red colour with a reserved nose of strawberry compote, raspberry and cherries with touches of dark chocolate and spice. The palate has a lovey shape and definition with beautifully soft fruit backed up by fine tannins providing very good length. Delicious but for the cellar.
