Gloriously mature whilst retaining fragrant red fruit, the colour is barolo esque with bricking on the edges. Nose is awesome and needed a good swirl to open up, so so inviting. The palate is incredibly generous with integrated tannin providing a lovely structure. Finish is pretty long with red fruit, leather, herbs and perhaps moreish smokiness. Great wine. Drinking well and unlikely to last or develop further.

Took about an hour in the decanter to come to life and then it was great - full-bodied, tannins now really soft but still present with masses of sweet spicy notes. Excellent wine. Drunk over dinner hence short note.

Decanted this but there was no sediment. Colour is deep red, faded at the rim with just a hint of orange. Spicy nose, cinnamon even some cardamom, prunes, strawberries, bit of menthol. Mature but clean and plenty of fruit. Still quite a bit of tannin, creamy nutty texture, orange rind, warm alcohol. Long spicy finish. Big powerful wine to be sipped slowly. We had ours with ribeye beef and strident finish the bottle between two. Not like me at all. …

Opening up this wine is like a puzzle in itself - not your typical chateauneuf. It started with a chalky chocolate and then loosened to a lighter chocolate with heaviness. Like it but wasn’t expected for this region.

Drunk at Virtual Wine Night during Coronavirus lockdown. With Morgan. Rich, Juicy A: garnet. to orange at time. darkish, not black. Shiny N: Warm, christmas spices, leather, P: chewy tannins, dense texture, med- acidity. =: as good as it could be. Sadly its my last bottle. Boo Hoo. .

Vinosphere (Town Hall, Sydney) : funky and earthy, muted and slightly reductive (?), red berry fruit. Better on the palate but still lacks a bit of fruit to accompany the drying tannin. 2006 wasn't the best vintage so that might be why this is not showing so well.

I like CDP. And so I want to like this wine. But it's just so so. One dimensional with red fruit, a bit of leather, and perhaps a bit of pepper. Still a bit of tannins on the finish. I don't see this aging well. I'd guess it will soften quite a bit but it will just devolve into something kind of raisined with no real complexity.
