Les Vins de Vienne, Condrieu

Tasted at a wine bar in Caen. Quite nice. Tropical fruit nose. Ripe, round, lively. Good presence in the mouth, and a lengthy finish. Very fresh. 4-12-16-8: 90/100.

Just superb — one of the best Condrieu wines I’ve ever had. Exquisite nose was just rife with complexity and fresh florality. Candied apricot, honey, white daisies, clotted cream, vanilla, lemon pastry and flint. The cream in particular suggested full malolactic and lees aging. The palate was rich and velvety but with decent contrasting acidity. Was a surprisingly subtle and delicious pairing with sushi, despite the power of the aromatics.
