Bürgerspital zum hl. Geist Würzburger Pfaffenberg Silvaner trocken

Angenehm würzige Nase mit viel Heu und Stroh, dazu mürber Apfel. Am Gaumen auch mürbes Kernobst, viel Extraktsüße, leichte Tabakwürze, angenehme Säure und lebendiges Spiel bei insgesamt eher öliger Textur. Im Abgang feines phenolisches Schmirgeln. Die deutlichen Reifenoten passen gut. Das ist ein ganz wunderbarer Essensbegleiter.

Superb minerality with crisp citrus and green apple. Robust and beautifully structured. In a very good drinking window but will age well for at least 5 years.

Stoney minerals, a bit of sulphur and some apple on the nose. Rather full bodied, dryish, ripe apple, a little citrus, stoney minerals, some residual sweetness and a bit of heat on the finish. A robust Silvaner. Very nice.

Pfaffenberg is consitingly below the other Erste Lage wines from Bürgerspital - much more than reflected in the price. The apple core and mineral nose is fine but the acidity is less refined and has a sharp element like very unripe lemons, and Theis element also dominates the aftertaste.

This shows why Silvaner should grow in Franken (and not many other places...). A powerhouse of minerality in the nose as well as on the palate. The minerals and the knife sharp acidity hides lemon cest of unripe lemons, flowers and yellow apples. A very heavy and powerful wine - simply asking for food, preferably from the solid Franken cuisine. It will probably develop over the years and become more approachable.

In the nose mango, ripe pear and honney nose. High density, oily, fruit sweetness, tropical fruit, ripe lemon, slight bitterness In the aftertaste.
