Miani, Zitelle Chardonnay, Friuli Colli Orientali

Popped and poured. This has seen better days. Still reasonably good but definitely heading downhill now. Round and full bodied. Medium golden. Orchard fruit, cashews, and a little oak.

Going over the hill

Popped and poured. Pretty youthful. White flowers, tropical fruit, peaches and a little oak come through. The wine is pretty full bodied, a little low in acidity but nicely balanced.

Reminds me of the Ramonet Ruchottes. The primary flavor that jumps out of this wine is the buttery caramel and coconut oil from the oak, but it’s really smooth and really nice here, like hazelnut or marzipan candy. This wine has a beautiful oily texture, which reminds me of Rhone white wines (that’s a good thing). It’s so soft and plush. I want a little more acid, fruit, and minerals to balance the oak, which I think are missing just …

Wait. Drink, But Wait. This is as world class as it gets. It gives you an experience that great grand cru white Burgundy gives you at a fraction of the cost. Its not cheap. But way cheaper than the friends it hangs out with. Pure wood aged driven chardonnay nose. So much phenolic fruit intensity, nice pithy youthful extract type mouth. So powerful, so elegant. So good.
