"2019" Sydney International Wine Show - stewarding notes; 10/7/2018-10/12/2018 (Blue Mountains, NSW) : {cork, 15%} Young, generic blackberry aromas. Confected palate; jam/blackberry/plum; despite this it’s actually dry on the palate – in fact a bit dusty, with medium powder tannins and medium acidity. But the flavours have a raisins quality to them, and this lack of freshness also cuts the finish to short of medium length. Not hot on the palate, but a bit unbalanced anyway.

Strawberry, plum, licorice. Acidity has quieted down slightly (more balanced). Hint of smoke. Paired decently well with pepperoni pizza.

Has developed somewhat well in the last few months. Fruit is still a little overripe with some fig and plum and tamarind, but the acidity has settled a bit and there is a nice meaty, savory element.

Continue to be a little disappointed with this vintage, but the wine paired well with sausage / mustard/ sauerkraut. Wine requires at least one hour to open up into its peak flavor profile of cassis, cranberry, blueberry, lilac, tamarind and crisp acidity. Has also developed a hint of leather and minerals.

Still not crazy about this vintage but I liked this bottle slightly more than the one we had a couple weeks ago. One difference is that we served it slightly warmer (room temp instead of 62-65 degrees) which may have muted the acidity just a bit and played to the round blackberry flavor. Still has a cherry cola thing mid-palate that I find off-putting. I have another 11 bottles (purchased lustily upon release after I really liked the 2014 vintage) …

Maybe my bottle was damaged because I could not get past the sour/bitter finish which did not dissipate after being open for over an hour. I agree with other comments that the initial aroma was funky (though that characteristic dissipated) and the alcohol was not integrated yet. On the plus side, the color showed promise. REVISION (from 70 to 80): on day 2 this wine improved. the sour finish has lessened quite a bit not enough for me to like …

2nd bottle of a case I bought and improved from the first bottle a few months ago, although still has a hint of something funky/corky on the nose upon opening, and the alcohol is still hot/not quite integrated. Palate shows violet, fig, cassis, vanilla and orange zest, with a lingering acidity. Paired relatively well with curried chicken.

Bright fruity garnacha, paired well with mid-week dinner (chicken over salad). Aerated and returned to bottle. Stored overnight after pumpdown in refrigerator. Improved second day. Bargain for the price.

A nose of some dark fruit and some spice, purple in color. A medium to full bodied red blend with black cherry, blackberry, some licorice and spice on uneven finish. www.winelx.com

A simple but drinkable wine that would go well served with food. Nothing exceptional but did have an interesting profile, as it is grenache and monastery. It performed slightly better that what I expected at its price point.

92 points from James Suckling, of course! I wonder if JS has ever tasted a wne he did NOT consider rating a 90 or more. QPR aside, this wine is 10 pts or so lower than his score. Simple and thin and nowhere near an exceptional wine at any price!
