This bottle isn't drinking quite as well. The fruit is slightly faded but the tertiary flavors haven't really developed yet, leaving the vanilla too prominent. Still quite tasty.

Cassis, Earl Grey tea and bittersweet chocolate with a creamy finish. Surprisingly smooth and elegant, tannins are present but very fine grained. Enjoyable now but probably best in 5 years with more leathery notes and light bricking.

The mintiest of the four vintages tasted today - fresh and acidic. Not as powerful as '14 or '15, but the most astringent. Still good but less rounded and deep than the others. Difficult vintage, apparently. It shows.
