Pleasure to come back to this cuvee after two years. Aged in smaller and larger barrels for 36 months and 12 months in bottle. Pale+ ruby core with thick bricking amber rim. Intense aroma of dried cherries, prunes, dry leaves, earth, tobacco, dried rose petals. Medium+ body, powerful and concentrated, great firm structure, saline prunes along earth, tobacco and touch of caramel, high fully resolved fine tannins. Drink now, as already feels too tertiary with rapidly dissipating fruitiness.

Full bodied, powerful, mouthfilling, with cherries, toasty oak and spices. The fruit is borderline ripe showing the warm vintage. Very good intensity on nose and palate. While not exactly what I look for in Barolo, I have to admit that this was delicous for the style and will certainly have many admirers. Reminded me a bit of Scavino. Would not hold this much longer. 17.5/20

A powerful and deep Nebbiolo of great structure and persistence. Aged in smaller and larger barrels for 36 months and 12 months in bottle. Medium red, orange hue. Intense aroma of strawberries, cherries, dried rose petals, spices, tobacco hints. Full body, explosive concentration and depth of flavour, powerfully built, delivering all the promises from aroma notes of smoky and spiced ripe and dried red fruits wrapped in dry rose petals with vibrant well integrated acidity and persistent fine grained rich …

Fresh strawberries and plums, spice and florality. Great balance of acidity and fruit and a long, complex finish. Perfect early drinking window.

Drank over three days with significant improvement on day two which indicates an optimal drinking window starting within 3-5 years. Tasting experience consistent with notes below.

15% ABV so a powerful one. Really explosive nose with Morello cherry, wild strawberry, plum, vanilla tobacco, sweet licorice and some spice. Palate was quite powerful with a decent tannin bite still and mostly dark fruit. Black cherry, plum, blackberry, strawberry, tobacco, oak and finishing quite herbal and spicy. Great now but could improve with just a few more years!

Mursteinsrød med litt touch av brunt. Litt orange i kantene. Ikke så sterk på lukt. Litt røyk. Sterkt anslag. Røde tørka bær. Kraftig, men slank munnfølelse. Lang. Litt tanniner. Mye smak. Etter litt luft (og litt varmere) blir vinen snillere, mer avrundet, men fortsatt kraftfull. En god velbalansert, mild og interessant vin

Thanksgiving week in Piemonte; 11/22/2019-11/30/2019 (Milan, Barolo, Alba, Barbaresco) : At the Barololand tasting room. First time trying this producer. This one was less of a stand out for me and it had a tough spot following the '12 Rinaldi Tre Tine. By point of comparison the fruits were much darker, and it felt heavier in mouthfeel - non of the lightness or elegance that I preferred.

Piedmont II - better and learnings; 11/23/2019-11/29/2019 (Barolo, Alba, others) : Maybe the QPR of the trip. We stuck this next to the grand masters and while it wasn't at that level it didn't totally get destroyed. Again more of the sea floor. Black fruits. Lots of plum. It's very young and there's this note of potential. The tannins are almost overpowering. It's a more reasonably priced wine that badly needs the age. Tasty though.

Recommended if you are set on getting a Barolo and working in the $35 price range (which is difficult for pricy Barolos). Could use a few more years to setting down but drinking manageable now. Pair with lamb ragu,... yum!! LCBO

Pale ruby colour. The nose shows medium+ intensity aromas of cherry, strawberry, walnuts, black pepper, cedar and meaty notes. It is dry with a medium+ acidity. It has medium+ fine-grained tannins and a high warm alcohol. It is full-bodied with pronounced intensity flavour. It has a long finish. It is a very good quality wine. It shows complexity provided by oak ageing and spicy notes, a very persistent finish and a remarkable concentration. However it is a bit too warm.
