Quevedo Blind Tastings 1/24 From the small bottle (50ml). The color was classic Aged Tawny. But in the nose this wine was flat, showed almost nothing at all. Some red fruit, but aside of that nothing. Very fruity in the mouth. Since I played the guessing game I’ve been totally fooled. Aside of the color I would never guessed 10yo Tawny, but some kind of entry level ruby. Maybe it was an odd bottle. I will see when I blind …

Smell of licorice, honey, slightly spicy. Light red to dark orange brownish color. Taste of oak and honey with burnt orange. Quite mellow and easy sipper with some spices making it very interesting. After some breathing, more plum with some spices, especially in the smell.

NW 2023 Xmas Roadshow (UK - Various Locations) : (Short notes, Walkaround) Mid orange-brown in colour, it has beckoning aromas of dried figs, prune juice, warm spices, and dates, with a light heady floral note. Rich and intense, the mid-palate is sturdy and deep, with granular tannins and well-integrated sweetness. Notes of Christmas pudding and coffee grinds leave a long, smooth finish of dried spiced-edged fruits. Fabulous! A blend of portuguese grapes that include Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Touriga Nacional, …

Medium garnet color with an outline that has an orange tinge. Chocolates, oranges, raisins and walnuts on the nose. Figs, honey, butter and caramel on the palate, with a long finish. This was my first port and I'm excited to dive deeper into the fortified wine world.

2022 Quevedo Port Advent Calendar; 12/1/2022-12/24/2022 : Day 21 of the Quevedo 2022 Prestige Advent Calendar. 90ml bottle. Amber-orange in color. Rich grilled tropical fruit notes with grilled pineapple most noticeable as well as some light papaya. There are also some light herbal notes and a little spirit on the nose. The entry has green apple, bourbon barrel, and light vanilla on the palate. This is an extremely well-balanced wine with good richness and acidity but there's just an odd …

2022 Quevedo Port Advent Calendar; 12/1/2022-12/24/2022 : Day 15 of the Quevedo 2022 Prestige Advent Calendar. 90ml bottle. Dark amber-brown in color with bricking on the edges. There are caramel, herbal, and subtle wood notes on the nose. The sweet flavor profile displays notes of dried nuts, caramel, and light orange spices. There is light acidity on the palate, which balances nicely with the sweetness through the long finish.

NW 2022 Xmas Roadshow (UK) : A heady, intense nose of nuts, brown spice, liquorice and orange soaked in brandy. A spirit-led entry but not overly sweet, this fresh full-bodied Tawny is filled with candied fruits, nuts, dried ginger, chocolate and Xmas cake. A long finish with excellent flavour depth and framed with firm, granular tannins. Cracking bottle!

Confraria Induction Trip; 6/19/2022-6/26/2022 (Porto, Portugal) : Cask sample. 50cl bottle. This Port will be the December 20 Port in Quevedo's Port Advent Calendar. Great tropical notes on the nose. Rich mouthfeel with honey and caramel. Nice balance and bright acidity.

A little lighter and not quite as sweet as I'm used to for a port.

Popped and poured, and consumed with my kids' chocolate Easter bunny remnants. I don't drink much tawny, but to me this drank much more like a VP. Much more grape and brandy and less caramel-like sweetness from the wood. This tawny was intense, long and delicious, and a steal at the price I paid Flickingers. I am looking forward to drinking the remaining 2/3 bottle in the near future, and to buying more.

Mostly port wines, with Andre Ribeirinho and friends in Lisbon (Instituto da Vinha e do Vinho in Lisbon, Portugal) : Getting better! This is an elegant, somewhat high-toned Tawny, and its balance and refinement made me think of 20 years old. But no, just 10. Wow, this is an excellent producer!

Lighter color, with dried fruit flavors (prunes, apricots), and a nice finish. A lovely wine.
