Mount Burrumboot Estate Merlot

Gee this showed well. Very fresh and lively; the core of pure sweet juicy fruit is a highlight but the acid seems to have settled over the past year and plays a much better supporting role. Minor criticism - perhaps a touch 'generic red' but maybe pointing more to my lack of experience with merlot from Central Victoria. Years to go.

Best wine I've tried from this house. Fresh and lifted with herbal and violet notes and the mildest touch of game. Quite varietal. Can't really understand the zinging acid on the back palate; part of me thinks it distracts and part thinks it bodes well for future cellaring. No doubt a good result for the winery.
