We opened this a couple of hours before drinking and glad we did. Agree with prior notes, it was surprising to see 15% alcohol on the label, it didn’t come off as hot. Tasted like the grape, but a little richer and fuller than normal. Different, but enjoyable.

Italian dinner. Short decant. Typical CabFranc nose with the leafy element to it but it is a very ripe version, typical for the warm Bolgheri region. There is a lot of oak here, too much at the moment, will it integrate?

Drank and reviewed with Tessa and Camille while enjoying a nice filet and roasted potatoes with Tuscan salt. Drinking well now, but with robust fruit and lingering tannins it should age nicely for a few yesrs. We’ll hold on to our remaining bottle for a while. Nice cab franc herbal qualities. It wears the alcohol well (like my ex wife!). PS: don’t really have an ex-wife, but my daughter Tessa thought that was a nice touch.

I made the mistake of trusting a professional review that said it was for young drinking. This was still quite robust, with gripping tannin though it softened a good amount with time. Aromatics were quite open however with a very new-world profile of mocha, bay, and dark plums and dried currants. Well made, though not my style (I would have guessed Napa if I tasted it blind). Another 3-5 years should put it in a sweet spot.
