Domaine Weinbach Gewurztraminer Furstentum

Pale, straw. Gentle florals, honey, orange zest, mineral spice. Orange blossom, light Turkish delight, creamy up front but with an impressively crisp finish. Will age well, pure bright tropical fruits and honey dominate now. Delicious.

Pale colour . Lightly fragrant , not at all heavy, honey , honeysuckle , citrus, tropical fruits and floral notes. Clean, runs a delicate line without being cloying. Has definite sweetness but acidity cuts it well. Refined style, not heavy, pure citrus and tropical fruit with stone fruit spice. Delicious drinking, No need for age, complex enough.

I am not sure what to make of this offering from Weinbach I made the cardinal sin of not tasting this beforehand thinking with the grape variety it would match an oriental fish dish when sampled I was surprised how sweet on the palette this was almost to an Auslese level, a beautiful floral nose, well balanced but a really challenging wine to match with a savoury dish. So my expectations were not met having tasted previous Gewurztraminers

Impressive Gewurztraminer. Rose petals, bitter lychee skin, golden plum. Delicious wine.

No notes but a fantastic wine from one of my favorite producers.

Visit to Domain Weinbach (Kaysersberg, France) : Much more pungent varietal nose than the Altenbourg with strong grapefruit. Rich, sweet, and unctuous in a Vendange Tardive style. Moderatel long, soil filled finish. I appreciate the quality, but this is too much for me, especially compared to the elegance of the wine that came before it.

Intense nose, tropical fruit, classic gewurztraminer sans the lychee. Quite sweet, tropical fruit. Long finish.

Aroma: spicy with notes of cut grass and tropical fruit. Palate: rich, sweet and creamy flavors of apple tart and butter. Low acidity, good complexity and length.
