Evesham Wood Chardonnay Le Puits Sec

Looks like cool climate Chardonnay. Smells like California Chardonnay. Tastes like butterscotch and acid. Very, very, very zingy. Acid freaks line up! Maybe with particular foods that match w dry white Sancerre, but I found it out of balance.

This was not my preference in a flavor profile. I don't expect Oregon Chardonnay to present anything like California but this seemed to be an extreme. Much more like a Sauvignon Blanc. Extremely high acidity with grapefruit flavors with a significant oak presence. I am not trying to be critical- just didn't hit me the way I had hoped.

Tasted blind against a Italian and Burgundy Chardonnay and I picked this as the Burgundy. Bright flavors, awesome, racey acidity, wonderfully balanced wood, and a long, acidic finsh with great overall balance. This is amazing wine at the price point.
