Jared's July 4 party (rough impressions, as there was a lot of wine). From jeroboam, and this was very enjoyable though it came across slightly tired (to be fair, so was my palate by that point). Gentle red and dark fruit, some savoury cedar and woodsy notes, not overly complex but very enjoyable with the lamb tagine.

Intense dark fruits, good structure, tannin and acidity. This wine is balanced and will evolve well over the next few years.

Lots of dark fruits. Full-bodied with a good finish. Tannic bite requires another few years in the cellar.

Mellow cherry fruit, soft earth, hints of Mushroom. Beautifully aged Sangiovese; richer full body. Middling acid. Long, silty finish. Not eye-popping, but it sure doesn't suck either. Drink by next year.

Deep brooding nose of mushroom and umami. On the palate dark cherry integrated nicely with earthy components. Lighter in finish than I was expecting given that other profiles. Missing that final lift at the end.

The wine had turned. Sad, had a bottle about 10 years ago and it was supple, balanced. The wine looks light brown colored. The legs are fast. There is heavy sediment in the bottle.

The wine was dark ruby in colour and offered red and dark fruit, vegetal notes, dark chocolate, coffee, spices and soy sauce on the nose. On the palate the wine showed cherry, blackberry, black currant, coffee, cocoa powder, vanilla, soy sauce and tobacco, with fine, dry, tannin, fresh acidity and very good length of the dry and slightly bitter finish. A full-bodied, ripe, thick and oaky red in the typical Banfi style. Great concentration, but generic, without soul or personality …

Winewankers BYO (Vegards House) : Dark red core, little to no transition. Massive nose. A little pungent, hints of metal. Voluminous palate that dampens tasting elements. Small hints of fruit. This wine is still young.

Dark red color. Big body with a nice balance of tannins, berries and acid. Nice and surprisingly tight wine with a good balance. Tasted with lamb barbecue which worked well.

Tett fyldig og konsentrert. Mør rød, nesten svart. Sorte bær og plommer, litt kaffe og lær. Intensiv frukt og flott støttende syre, føles frisk. Flott struktur med finkornede tanniner. Fin lengde og bra kompleksitet. Flott vin med fint balansert fatbruk, dog litt mye vaniljetoner helt i avslutningen.

This is a pretty standard Sangiovese blend. Not good, not bad not anything really. Don't spend your money on this.

Rubinrød, litt brun i kant.

This was somewhat controversial. A number of tasters like it a lot, others thought it was closer to rubbish (bottle quality was excellent, comments were on the wine). Would have been interesting served blind. I thought it decent, but nothing to write home about.

More structured and early stage than I might have expected. Hard to pick the shrimp but the cab and sang is there in spades; dark brooding berry fruits, dry and savoury, dry classy tannin. A hint of sweeter fruit to finish. Very classical and built for the traditional palate.

Just tasted a 2004 Castello Banfi Summus from Sant' Antimo. You can taste the rich Tuscan earth with hints of toasted oak, currant, and blueberry. It has a medium-to-full body with flavors of dark chocolate, oak, spice and scorched earth. Very well-balanced with just the right acidity and a long, mineral-filled finish. Delightful, complex, fantastic! Drink now until 2014.

Very nice chianti, with notes of fruit, nice soft velvety tannins, and enjoyable texture and taste that coated the mouth, yet wasn't too thick or viscous

Decanted. Very expansive nose of tar, leather and raspberry. It really opens with air...Lots of fruit with tobacco notes on the palate. Nice depth and length...Very nice wine and showing much better than my previous bottle.

A lot of dark fruit on the nose, cherries and plums with some licorice. The mouthfeel is silky smooth but has some heat in the back end, extremely long and persistent finish. Will improve hopefullywith time. Quite tannic and austere, an OK wine!!!

A step up following a dull bottle of Viticcio Monile. Garnet color and a cherry and brambly aroma. Lively tart cherry fruit with resolved tannins and good length. A wine that could only come from Tuscany with a bit of dried herbs and backbone of acidity. I nice mature super Tuscan probably at its peak but not relevatory.
