Maison Leroy Bonnes Mares

Ex-chateau bottle. Soy, earth, tea and dark fruit on the nose and palate. High acidity yet the fruit is fading. Very good for the vintage but past the peak even for an ex-chateau.

Wines Tasted at HDH Auction; 12/10/2015-12/12/2015 (Tru Restaurant - Chicago IL) : Alluring aromas of mature red fruit with great spice and earth. 96 point nose. Charming palate that comes across slightly more mature vs nose, but incredibly delicate and elegant. This is a wine to sip and savor for hours.

My second bottle of this (and last). Great nose - fully mature, wet leaves and forest floor. Still some red fruit on the palate. Great balance. 1980 has some cracking Burgundies.

Dark color, lacked fruit, lots of tannin, age worthy, opened after about an hour. Still needs time. Good mouthful

This was excellent. Lively, fresh, beautiful on the nose and palate. Drank well over four hours, didn't fade. Great stuff.

Monday Night at Alto. : A bit restrained, but like all 80 burgs tasted recently, it was lovely.

Dennis' summer tasting : Light red with brown and watery edge. Nice mature nose of sweet tobacco, some sour red berries, orange peel and licorice. In the mouth not much besides acid. Nice nose, but only the skeleton remains. Still interesting to taste. 85?
