Disappointing. Three hour decant. Dense, monolithic. Over time prune-y notes became prominent. Last two glasses went into refrigerator as cooking wine.

Memorial Day Weekend, Day 2: The Great Gatsby : Dark red intense fruits, deep earth and a little too much heat (possibly really sharp oak). Flavors matches the nose completely, including the heat unfortunately. Still tasty nonetheless! I wanted to see if the heat would blow off but this was one of those bottles that I couldn't get a chance to go back to. Maybe it was just me that kept finding this heat wave in this.

Decanted 2 hours. Fruit and hint of earth on the nose. A big but not overpowering CA well constructed wine. Red and dark fruit with tanins well balanced and a long enjoyable finish. Paired well with grilled steak.

Tough to score as this was not a perfect example. There was a touch of seepage despite excellent storage conditions. The cork was spongy, but it came out intact when a Durand was substituted for a corkscrew. A robust and savory nose, showing lots of alcohol, and indeed the alcohol seemed to outweigh the fruit on the palate as well. Weekend at Bernie's; 2/25/2022-2/27/2022 (Vero Beach) : Very big and very Napa. It coats the mouth, all dark fruits and a bit exotic and maybe a bit spicy. New world for sure in style but kindof in the best way (because there is something that keeps it from being totally overdone). Enjoyable and a bit hedonistic.

Decanted for 90 minutes. An explosive wine on two fronts - alcohol and fruit. The fruits are deep overripe and nearly jammy layers of black, blue and red fruits. Some cedar, vanilla Oak, and mocha notes with touches of leather. Alcohol, however, took this down 3 points for me.

Holiday Champagne Gala (Park Ridge Country Club) : Small late night taste, brief note. Floral and well spiced with reasonably balanced black fruit, very good concentration and enough structure and energy to keep this restrained. Very good now.

Nose of pencil shavings, graphite, some sweetness and more red fruit than black or blue fruit. The palate is dominated by mostly red but also some blue fruit, abundant but silky smooth tannins, a core of some sweet fruit although i did not find it overmature. The alcohol is definitely present, but i did not find it overdone. It is drinking rather well at present.

This is a classic opulent Cali Cab - but is not overdone. It has great structure of acidity and tannin to keep it fresh and interesting. Loads of sweet cassis on the palate, along with forest floor, this is still very primary. Long and complex. Drink now and over the next 20 years.

Drank with "Wagyu" grilled steak and was perfect complement. Decanted 90 minutes before serving. Nose overly powerful and scared me a little (only negative thing to say), but upon tasting this has all the things we like in hi-end cabs; intense flavors, complexity, structure in balance, long finish, etc. Could get better still too. A hedonistic wine, but to my palate uncharacteristically overripe and overoaked, for a Colgin that is. While the nose was very enticing, on the palate, I found excess in every department. Enjoyable for sure, just too much -- Napa on steroids, versus the impeccable balance and restraint to which I've become accustomed with almost all Colgin Cabernets. Rich, sweet cassis and plum notes, iron, red meat and a touch of garrique.

Some of it is the vintage, but mostly it’s just over extracted junk. This may possibly be the last Colgin I ever have. It’s not undrinkable, but there is no reason to chase a multi hundred dollar wine that you can duplicate for $35 any day of the week from any Total Wine. If you want power …

Two-hour decant and drank over the next 2.5 hours. Intense dark fruit, spicy oak, noticeable alcohol, strong tannins. I wouldn't call this a great showing as it didn't feel integrated, although it was enjoyable. Perhaps past prime or perhaps this will settle down into a mellow old age.

Absolutely amazing Wine. The smell is incredible - Rich and fruity. But the flavour is light. Full of flavour but light.

Decanted over cocktails and served. Pure, intense left-bank blend with pure, intense cassis and licorice with wet earth and mushroom on the palate. Very expressive nose of berries, pipe tobacco, and brandied fruit. Still very much a cult cab experience with some complexity and secondary notes now. Drink over the next few years; it's in a great place right now.

Seems to have declined from my last tasting. That said similar notes and French style wine.
