Devitt & Moore Cabernet Sauvignon Captain D. Bruce

A very tasty wine. Could not fault it.

Pop n pour, drank over 4 hours. Soft, predominantly tertiary fruit, tobacco, lead and faint nuisances of tomato leaf. Little tannin grip initially but rounds out with time open, with a finish that is unfortunately feels a tad thin at times. Aged cab, a little basic, but inoffensive. Drink up

Gave this a decant and had half a bottle over a few hours. It’s solid drinking, a mixture of fruit and some secondary, compost type notes coming through. Tannins have softened, medium length. I managed to get a good price on this and see it’s being sold for $120 a bottle via a big retailer. I’d say this is good value in that sub $40 range.

Rich, full-bodied. Layered, enticing nose, blackcurrant, violets, cherries. Balanced but firm, slightly grippy tannins. Cedar and spice on a full mid-palette, long finish. Very nice.
