Herdade Da Calada Vinho Regional Alentejano Vale da Calada

Esporão Tasting (Proof - DC) : Aromas of dark and juicy plums and currants, along with menthol and sweet green herbs. Good structure on the palate with moderate acidity for freshness. Juicy dark currants, smoky herbs and spices. Structure is impressive for the price, this seems built enough for a few years in the cellar. A blend of Touriga Nacional and Syrah.

Dark ruby, inviting nose of violets, red and black fruit, really quite intoxicating. The flavours are blackberry fruit and spice but alcohol heat dominates on the finish, leaving a burning sensation as it goes down, like necking a brandy! The wine is a little too warm, it's Portugal and its July so I've stuck the bottle in the fridge for 30 minutes to see if this calms it down and offer a little bit more balance
