Balanced in its tropical fruitiness and minerality. Slight effervescence on the finish. Compelling and precise, makes me excited to seek out more Alsatian wine. Really lovely food wine!

The nose is like a typical Riesling with green apple flesh, lemon, dry summer meadow. Additionally, a briny fresh breeze, savory herbs, and rooibos tea note. I loved the taste of this wine, though it was a bit less distinct than the nose. Medium high acidity, a lasting alcohol warmth, light minerality. I’d call this a benchmark Alsace Riesling from my fairly limited experience with the region.

Based on previous evidence I was half expecting this to go down the sink (wifey had taken the plug out) but this bottle proved that each bottle is unique. This one was a survivor. Mature certainly but decent balance with no volatile acidity. Slightly off-dry but paired well with Duck teriyaki.

Au nez, citron, bonbon Napoléon, tarte au citron, marmelade d'orange; un peu de miel, massepain. Pourrait laisser penser à un vin moelleux, mais en bouche parfaitement sec. Belle tension, milieu de bouche très goûteux, minéralité en fin de bouche, le terroir parle. L'acidité est certe un peu dure. Très long.

Oily but it kept its elegance. It took some time for it to open up, but it came through with smells of herbs, salvie and rosemary, citrus and apple. Great with food. Stood the most out, with trimbach and boxler

Served by father in law at family dinner. I approached this with some trepidation as our last bottle went down the sink about 6 months ago as it was clearly over mature. More like a medium sweet sherry. This bottle was the polar opposite as there was rapier like acidity (sharp!) that overwhelmed the orange peel fruit. It was a decent match for the chinese style duck but on its own? Not my preferred style

Lay & Wheeler Summer tasting : Clean and vertical. A touch of reduction and peppery spice. Quite deep and heady while remaining light on its feet. Nice enough, but not at this price. I'm sure there's something that happens to these with age to justify the reputation and critical acclaim, but I'm not seeing it in the glass today.

Drank again with duck a l’orange a great match but this time I found this wine a tad too off-dry, a little clumsy and heavy. Perhaps needs drinking up.

Drunk with duck a l’orange (as usual for us). A lovely match. This is still young and vibrant. There is a slight sweet lime to it on both nose and palate. Good length on the finish. Next time I will try it on it’s own and perhaps just a tad more chilled

Liegt mit einem wunderschönen, hell glänzendem goldgelb im Glas. Es springt eine kräftige Nase, mit schon leicht gereiften Obertönen, aus dem Glas. Feinster, weicher Blütenhonig umschmeichelt die Nase. Perfekt reifer Pfirsich mit etwas Vanille kommt danach. Die tiefer liegenden Aromenschichten wirken deutlich frischer und fächern sich wunderbar auf. Dabei erzeugen sie eine gewaltige Tiefe und Komplexität. Zind-Humbrecht Clos Windsbuhl Dinner (Mitzo, Grand Park Orchard) : It was a bit unfair to place this after the blockbuster which was the 2000 Brand Riesling, but this was a rather nice wine in its own right.
