Strange, odd, taste, not balanced weak in middle

A deep red wine with a menthol personality: through and through. Superbly well made wine with a compelling price tag. For various dishes.

Swe-Aus blind tasting, Yokohama (Le Message, Gumyouji (Yokohama)) : Dark purple. Nose is dark, muffled and fruity with quite attractive aromatic spices like mint. In the mouth it has a great structure with intensity. Acids are M+ and tannin ticking the mildness box at M. Will grow over the next 5 years or so. We are keeping our remaining 2 btls for a while. Wife enjoyed this one. An amazing QPR at Sweden's strange monopoly.

Cellartracker in the flesh #2 with Stefan, Akiko, Atsushi & Yukari. (Le Message, Yokohama, Japan) : Red and black plum, spice, sl. Herbaceous quality (the one I associate with Carignan), cream. In the mouth juicy plum fruit, slight herbaceous notes - hints of mint, medium chalky tannin, plentiful alcohol heat. I guessed Sthn Italy Primitivo based blend from 2011. Was a 2012 Douro Field blend.

Nina and Mathias family dinner (Umeå, Sweden) : Another blockbuster Portugese red. We need to buy more reds from this country. This is a full throttle wine that walked the thin line of carrying a good heft as well as aromatic spices with minty interpretations on both nose and palate.
