The core is inky black with a rim of plum. The plum theme continues on the nose with ripe black plum fruit, blackberry, smoke, smoked meats brined black olives, and iodine. The palate replicates the nose, but with cinnamon, tobo leaf and eucalyptus. Balanced and complete; long on the finish even if not complex. Such a full and satisfying wine with a richness on the palate that surprises for a CdR, even this one which is known for over performing. …

The nose of this wine was strongly redolent of blackberry jam, it was very full flavoured with notes of black cherries and it still has good structure with a fair bit of dusty tannin. Will be good for another three years.

Nice drinking QPR. Wouldn't hesitate to drink these if I had many more of them.

Black color. Blackberry and violet nose-very Syrah! Dense and tannic, but seemingly more open than it was a year ago. This could be mistaken for a higher echelon Northern Rhone Syrah-based wine. Very good.

Would definitely buy again for the $11 we paid. Well structured, dry mouthfeel and ready to drink - tannins stil there but quieting down. Nice deep cherry color with purple tones. Not too complex, but for the price it was certainly enjoyable.

Very well produced wine at an amazing price point. Good cherry and berry aromas on the nose with some spice. Decanted for an hour before drinking. Good fruit, fairly well balanced though a bit tannic - though still not as open as it will be in a year or two. Tannins were firm but still pleasent. Drinkable now - but in a few years this will be beautiful.

A: After opening for a while spice faded away, and black berry jam and flowers became pronounced. M: Spicy and tannic, which faded after getting some air. Nice balance of acidity and tannin with fruity and a bit nutty finish. Medium bodied. Good to drink without food. Had it with pan seared lamb arms and shoulders and found it not powerful enough to balance the fat. Try to pair with something lighter next time.

Nose was giving off classic bacon notes with crushed dark berries. Palate was well balanced and packed with fruit and a nice toasty finish. Great QPR and wine that wants to be paired with a simple rustic meal.

Awesome value for $12. A bit jammy upon opening but settled into a medium bodied, well balanced wine with about an hour of air.

Up to it's usual standards. Aromatics full of red meat and bacon.

Dark color. Very meaty blackberry nose. Medium body with black fruit and tannin dominating. Definitely not lush or welcoming. This is the fourth bottle of this I've had in the past 6 months, and it is nowhere near as open now as it was back in the spring. The "Syrahness" of this wine has become more and more apparent with each bottle, and I would advise holding these at this point.

I just don't think this is anywhere ready to go. It is soooo restrained and hard. I decanted and it was quite nice on day two. Lovely nose. I think I will give it another year

13.5% Very dark, inky colored purple with black cherry color showing up on the edge. Dark fruit and raspberries on the nose. Something a little sweet but not honey, more like an unhopped brewing malt aroma. Taste is slightly spicy but not enough to grab, not the green pepper of a cab franc, just something there in the middle front. Some spice at the end too. It has some defninite staying power, a few seconds but not enough to say …

Quite pleasant CDR. Med + bodied, with lots of dark red fruits. Some hints of eathiness and smoke hiding in there as well. Good value, along with so many other CDR's right now.

Dark inky almost black in color, soupy thick in the mouth, somewhat tannic, balanced in taste, with some cedar, plum and leather.

A Lazy Summer Afternoon (Hillsborough, CA) : See previous notes, but once again proved itself to be a spectacular and beautifully drinking value. This bottle more marked by black- and blueberry fruit than previously. A major mouthful for the price.
