Vibrant yellow color. Intense dry extract. Gorgeous aromatics. Explosive on the palate. Extremely complex. Lots of herbs and spice. The long persistent finish is what is most impressive about the wine. It reminds me of a FX Pichler Unendlich because of the intensity of the flavors and the grapefruit and rind like flavors. Pure taste and already pleasing, but let it age many years because there is more to have. This is certainly quality and I understand why some could like this pure style. However, I would rather spend my money on Clemens Busch Felsterassen 2020 to have more complexity, just to mention one exampel recently tasted.

Seems to be fairly shut down at the moment. An initial hit of crushed rocks gives way to floral notes of lily of the valley, and freesias. Cool and mineral. Ripe stone fruit on the palate, and while this is legally a dry riesling, it wouldn't surprise me if the RS was towards the higher end of the spectrum of what's allowed. Tasted after the impressive 2019 Gottesfuss Alte Reben GG, this is not necessarily better, just different. Cool minerality, green notes, herbs, white fruit - lots of depth on the nose. On the palate again remarkable well balanced. Very mineral, very precise and elegant. Lingering finish. This requires patience, but should also be outstanding. 95-96+(+)

Schöne rauchige, schiefrige, leicht-tropische Nase. Haben etwas Ananas, etwas Marzipan, immer-noch-grünen Apfel dazu. Am Gaumen immer noch kompakt, schöne Säurestruktur, allerdings dann doch eher ein Maulvoll Wein. Insgesamt dann etwas üppig, mit anständiger Länge. Schöner Abendbrot-Wein.

What to say? GG Riesling is just something completely different compared to the traditionally "Trocken". I know it's often ten times more expensive compared to regular super market rieslings carrying the name "Trocken" . But this GG just has that extra "something" to stand out from all the other GG's I've tried so far. The ‘Schiefer Riesling’ (Slate Riesling) is made from the younger vines of the estate. Upon opening, the wine was quite flabby with almost no nose to speak of.
