Gave three hours in the decanter. This wine has passed it's prime. There are still wonderful dusty, earthy notes in the nose, along with spices. But along with this is a raisin-y shroud. On the palate the wine is thin and a bit astringent. Finish is alcohol-ish. It's a shame. Knowing the 2008 as so stellar, one must guess that 3-5 years ago, this 2001 was singing. It was much better with food (rack of lamb), but still unremarkable. :-(

Wow, this wine has grown up. Rich succulent fruit. Lingering finish. Great paring for grilled steak. Very much surpassing my expectations.

Nice light red color. Bing cherry on the nose. Maybe a touch of anise and spice. Nice medium finish. A mild wine that paired perfectly with grilled pork chop with a cumin based bbq sauce.
