Under cork. Not decanted. On opening strong vegetal nose which blew off quickly in the glass. Well integrated tannins, lots of tertiary character load of coffee, chocolate with some cooked fruit, baked blackberry. I read the Halliday review before drinking (89) and I did not find the oak oppressive. All in all a great wine, one left which is sadder. Drink by 2027. A.

A forgotten bottle, definitely over the hill. Acceptable with pizza as it warmed up from cellar temp.

Definitely on the decline, still enough in it to be interesting and there was quite a bit of Brett which I wasn't expecting..

This is as good a bottle as aged Aussie shiraz gets. Mature, complex nose not unlike an aged Penfolds Grange. Lighter on the palate but finishes with elegance and finesse. No need to decant, just pop, pour and enjoy!

Dark crimson colour. Medium body, underlying tannin but full fruit flavour. Dark berries and fruit cake flavour with undertones of spice. Very nice wine to enjoy by itself or with a nice steak. Unfortunately only had one bottle of this vintage.

Last bottle from a case and I wish I had more!!!! Fantastic fruit that pairs well with food. This was a screw cap at nine years old for those interested.

Seems to still be holding near peak. Probably, because of its age, I need to start drinking more from my second case.

This nine year old Coonawarra shiraz is characterised by liquorice blackberry and mint. Its appearance was ruby. It was full bodied and had a soft mouthfeel. Perhaps a little unbalanced. Closed on opening the nose gave up its aromas at 35 minutes in a decanter. Drunk at roughly 18-20 degrees C.

Ruby coloured. Moderate intensity nose. Fruit characteristics with a hint of rubber. Well balanced palate with soft mouthfeel.

Inky dark red in the glass, nose is rich with dark berries and oak and some funky barnyard smells, even some steely minerality. Light smoky oak, consistent dark berries, assam tea characters and dark chocolate, with clean structure and transparent lines. Somewhat linear unfussy and clean, it's drinking very well now, finishing with good savoury mushrooms and sustained with minty eucalypts. A well-made food wine, it grows in structure with time in the glass.

Very intense on the nose. Red and black fruits and a touch of cedar.Perfect as well with some hearty food due to its lovely acidity. A balanced and very well-made wine. Worth every penny. 4 stars.

Adequate winter/spring rain and a warm, dry November set the scene for good, even flowering and berry set. The gentle spring conditions and a particularly cool January encouraged a healthy canopy growth that helped the vines through severe heat in the first two weeks of February when temperatures soared. I'm quite impressed by this wine especially at the price point. Lots of black cherry and dark chocolate on the nose. Reminds me of a dark Dove bar. Silky tannins and a moderate finish. Very well balanced alcohol, it doesn't come across hot at all. I'll buy it again!

dark inky color, aroma of dark fruits, chocolate, leather and mocha. full body. on the palate this is full of lush dark fruit, and leather and chocolate. what sets this apart is the deep chocolate flavors. finish is a bit short. overall an excellent shiraz. very rich.

Sample cost $0.92 per ounce. Better than the Show Reserve Mudgee Shiraz -- more flavour. A little bit of fruit. But not much spice. Good (82.5).
