Mid ruby tending to full garnet. Rich nose, dark red fruit, mulberry and damson with a meatiness and almost, but not quite, touch of soy. Properly GC weight and densely velvety texture, opulent and plush without being de trop. Very full and satisfying, though perhaps not overly complex. Cosseting. ****

Slightly darker colour than the clavelier combe d’orveaux served alongside. Sweet fruit, red and purple and very in your face. Supple through the finish. Cool fruit profile. Voluptuous, rich and forward.

Received as a gift shortly after release. This had taken on much more weight than previous bottles and had developed lovely mature Burgundy flavours, truffles and autumn leaves, fine structure and good length. early days for Pascal Marchand but a lovely success.

Lunch at The Ledbury with Andrew and Fletcher. Bright, medium ruby/garnet. Bright nose, quite youthful, melange of red and black fruit, liquorice, touch of sesame seed. Very complex. Medium/full bodied, liquoricey red fruit, light crunchy tannins, excellent depth, lovely vibrant acidity, very long. Outstanding, drinkable now but with plenty left in the tank.

Medium-light rosewood color, with initial signs of bricking. Popped and poured, both the nose and the palate had strong gamy notes. With time and aeration, the nose took on a concentrated, perfumed aroma of violets. The palate showed similar intensity, with ample black fruit and spice, ending in a high-pitched note of limestone terroir. Impressive aromas of forest floor, cherry, and earth. Flavors of damp-earth, cherry, earth, minerals, with touch of leather, fine tannins, rose-petal in a balanced powerful by sillky mouthfeel from start to the long finish. A Clos Vougeot that was really very impressive. Hard to imagine that this will get better.

With roast chicken dinner. Deep red colour right to the rim. Coffee, mocha, cherries on the nose. Smelled exciting. Nice silky, fairly complex taste with sour cherries - reminded me of a good W&S Pinot. Somewhat disappointing, shortish finish. Initially I thought that Steve Tanzer (89) and Clive Coates (15.0) were a little harsh on this wine, but as we finished the bottle I think they were about right.
