Deep dark red color with a solid core. Barrel room nose with lot's of rich dark fruit and sawdust. Fat cherries, anise spice, and wood. In the mouth this is a filling wine with a big mouthfeel. fine tannins, with a high acidity, make for something interesting, but the rich fruit seems to get lost and an onslaught of oak hits at the end. Clear and radiant black raspberry in color with an inky boysenberry core. Dense, yet vibrant, grape juice bouquet with nice veil of vanilla, black licorice, chocolate and charred oak. Light in the mouth with incredibly fine, smooth tannins, racy acidity and a 2/4 spicy mid-palate oaky finish. Light cranberry and cherry flavors linger, but it lacks integration and fruit. 2.5/5
