Again, started slowly. Immediately after opening it tasted strongly of spice, but this quickly dissipated and gave way to a sour taste. After decanting (absolutely necessary as it threw serious sediment) a strong coffee aroma came forth, followed by sweet cherries as the wine began to open. Remarkably, the excellent wine emerged from something we might have corked on first taste. This wine is consistently surprising.

The lable warns that this will need decanting - indeed! Lots of sediment, and very sour when first opened. After an hour in the decanter it opened up remarkably. In fact, it tasted favorably in a blind tasting with a 2001 Chateauneuf! Really surprising with lots of spice.
