Dark, glass-clinging red purple in the glass. Intene nose unlike any New World Tannat I've had before: cocoa powder, tar, meat char. Palate a bit closed on first pour; opens up to yield dark chocolate (think Lindt's 99%), black cherry at the tip of entry, black cranberry mid palate to finish, hint of menthol. Frm tannins with acidity to match the New World production. This can last for a few more years easily, though I'm not sure there'd be significant …

Nose of chocolate, mint and licorice. Palate is black fruit, not a super long finish. Color is very dark red, almost black except for the edge of the glass.

This had an elegant and fragrant bouquet of black cherry, black currant, burnt toast, coffee, cocoa and spice aromas. The palate was powerful, round and dusty dry with flavors of black cherry, black currant, burnt toast, ash, coffee, cocoa and spice. 89+

I drank this after dinner on 4/25/11. It had a powerful and terrific bouquet of black cherry, black currant, blackberry, plum, smoke, coffee, spice and licorice aromas. The palate was full-bodied, round and very dry with flavors of black cherry, plum, blackberry, leather, coffee, spice and licorice.

This is a big wine. Dark garnet in color. Deep red fruit on the nose and on the palate. This needs some significant time in the glass. Huge tannins, I mean HUGE. They don't suck the moisture out of your head but they spread across your tongue like a wave crashing on the beach.

From the cork pull meaty smells plus dark red fruit. I am getting kinda excited. More excited than I have been in the past with this bottle. Almost some sort of unidentifiable Cornas like aroma. Of course, given the fact that I can identify the aroma as Cornas would mean that it is not unidentifiable. Certainly very big tannins but fairly soft. We shall see how it goes!

Meaty, with hints of celery salt. And opening up more than I remember it to be. Of course, fairly forceful tannins. But coming around the bed. We will see if the mid palate fruit can hold the tannin! Red Wine Sausage.

pretty nose of cherry, stone and violets. spicy gingerbread on the palate. tannic, but not the unapproachable brick wall i was expecting. Imagine having to blind taste this wine?

Double decanted at 6 am and finished at 6 pm. Violety and delicious with some of its meatiness showing through. Hold for a year and check again or churn in a blender for a couple of minutes to get it to loosen up.

Popped and poured. Probably the darkest wine I have seen this year. Nose of brambles, blackberry, green pepper, oak. On the palate blackberry, licorice, green beans, smoke, vanilla. Sturdy but sweet long tannic finish. Tough wine to rate. Excellent to outstanding. Decent value. Hold. 89-91

A beautiful deep purple color. Soft and round in the mouth. Tannins remain well under control. Yet, while tannat as a varietal provides a nice change of pace, it does not seem to have as much backbone and structure as cabernet, syrah, mourvedre and tempranillo.

Tannat to fall in love with. Full bodied. Dark berries, coffee, licorice, smoke. Different and wonderful. Firm tannins that softend with decanting. Quite dry. Something for those stuck in the ho-hum. 13.9% alco (D 8, F 6; DaV)

Inky Crimson color. Vegetal nose. Subtle fruit and green bell peppers are present. Green beans and subtle tannins on the finish. Great food wine.
