OMG. Upon opening, a solid cork suggests upside offset by an off-putting nose and the look on my wine-loving guests face. I agree, but suggest to my guest that history suggest waiting 30-60 minutes before passing judgment. Second pour 45 minutes later: magic wand. OMG...for the better this time. A profound wine. Black fruit, dark flowers and a body to knock your socks off! So, so, so, so, so, so good.

Not the best bottle I've had, but still very enjoyable. Love these early 90s Bordeaux blends from Sonoma/Napa. Black, red and blue fruits. Hints of spice and dried herbs with modest Oak.

Color has just a touch of bricking and still not much sediment. It takes about 30 to 45 minutes for the wine to fully open. Classic old school Cali Bordeaux blend. More overripe fruit than Bordeaux of same era, but still a old world elegant style. Was blown away by this - read the estimated drinking window and laughed because I didn’t believe it - but it’s true. Another 5 years of life for sure - I would argue near peak now. Tannic, big cherry fruit, let open for about an hour. Just really impressive- well integrated but youthful. For what it’s worth this was the best cork condition I’ve seen on any 26 year old bottle of wine.

Another into neck fill. Very little sediment. Lovely color with no real sign of age. It took about 30 minutes in the decanter to fully open. Layers of black fruits; touches of red fruits, cedar, vanilla, eucalyptus, and leather.

Excellent bottle with into neck fill and solid cork. Modest bricking. It took over 30 minutes to fully open. A fruit forward wine with plenty of black, blue and red fruits in layers in that order, with sweet vanilla Oak and some dried herbs. Very smooth with just the right amount of food acidity. The finish was only about 15 seconds, but that might have been the wine's biggest shortcoming. A teaspoon of sediment.

Fill into neck and extremely solid cork. Color showed no sign of age. On first opening the Oak was a tad dominant. After an hour or so, the dark fruits emerged and took center stage. Beautiful layers, smooth but still seemingly very young. Red fruits and hints of sagebrush and cedar on the finish. I was very impressed and will save my last bottle for at least a few more years as there is quite a bit of life left …

This wine surprised everyone because at 21 years old, it still had a fairly youthful nose and an even more youthful taste. Plenty of fruit remains in this bottle, with cassis, dark berry and smoke notes. While not a giant wine, it still has good backbone and a moderate finish. Given its original price and pedigree it was really a nice bottle of wine, wish I had more...
