This was remarkably fresh on pop and pour with bright cherry fruit and moderate tannins, almost like a Beaune wine. Delicious for about 45 min and then started to fall apart in the glass, but I was surprised it was good for that long.

Fully mature bottle. The nose really is its best feature. Dark raspberry and black cherry fruit. Sea shell and crushed rocks. There is real volume. Palate has become silky on the attack. Falls off a bit too quickly. This was clearly built for fruit as the balance on the finish is a tad lacking. Still a good drink. But I would drink up. (89)

This started very dense and tannic. It actually came around nicely. Sure, it always had a pretty hard edge, but for the most part it had dark, dark red fruit, textured, rich, with a pleasant mouthfeel and swallow. Dare I say it will continue to improve.

Perrot-Minot 2001-2005 Tasting (Chicagoland IL) : Dense and meaty with lots of black fruit and roasted meat, everything in wonderful harmony, just less complex than the 1er Crus in the flight. But the most enjoyable tonight.

Opened 30 minutes before serving. Lots of black berry and cherry throughout with good+ density for its level. Nicely fresh and well spiced when first poured, more earth emerged with more air. Really excellent Village level wine, this started losing steam after open three hours.

A big step up from the bottle tasted last year. Gorgeous dark burgundy color. Like past bottles, the fruit on the nose is absolutely terrific. There is still evidence of heavy oak treatment, but this bottle has absorbed more of the oak than past bottles. There is a lovely mature sweetness to the finish that was not there before. Still too much manipulation. I like it but look forward to trying more recent vintages. (89)

Initially, Cabernet-esque rubber nose/palate. Medium-stiff tannins with some fruit hiding under there somewhere. After a few days on Coravin, and an hour open, more approachable, with tartish black cherry fruit, tooth-drying tannins right up front. Big, rustic, better with a hearty meal, like duck or a grilled flank steak. Not bad, but not my style (le Moine, Mugnier, Mugneret-Gibourg). Try again after 2021 or beyond.

Well.... there is a lot to like here. The fruit is quite lovely and deep. The nose is complex and spicy. But this wine’s downfall is a dramatic over use of oak that causes the wine to finish with wood instead of what I surmise was some fantastic raw material. I hear the treatment has changed drastically at this domain which can only be good. (87?)

Rather big, deep wine. Un-Pinot like at this stage. Game and funk; not subtle. Needs time?

Moderate bright ruby core with amber rim. Expressive nose of red berries, leather, dried rose petals, and slightly gamey tang. Though relatively light weight on the palate and somewhat lacking in concentration, it still offers lovely red fruits, fine grained tannins, and beautifully balanced acidity. This nice village level bottling is approachable now and likely still has a number of years at its peak. 13% ABV. $74.

Telltale Perrot – Minot profile on the nose. Animalistic, meaty with some pine needles and green herb spices, red berries and ripe dark cherries, flowers, smoked stones, game and a certain wildness. Exception in this vintage are a hint of furniture polish, not commonly found in Christophe’s wines? Palate is deep, with ripe fruits, cherries, spicy, creamy, but still with enough acidity to keep this from being flabby or new worldish. Open for business and rather enjoyable. Keeping together and …

It is entering a good drinking spot. It is fruit driven but with a good balance between power and fruit. Compared to many other wines from 2005 it is less structured and it is accessible now.

I opened this for lunch and found it in a semi-dormant state. It had a soft, compliant texture and was nicely layered with spicy notes but not much fruit to speak of. Not a particularly expressive bottle so I don't think I'll open another for several years.

Expressive and pretty nose, could smell this whole day. Sweet and smooth on entry, notes of black fruits, dark chocolate, violet, and oaks. Good acidity level, vibrant. Label indicated 13% with warmth at finish. Good balance but not very long finish. Approachable but could age few more years, should easily last 10 years. Excellent for a village level wine. Maintains good balance on 2nd day but not very persistent finish. 91-93 pts. (A)

in magnum. color tending to slight tawny at the rim now. Reductive bouquet upon opening taking 20-30 minutes to blow off, then sweet aromatics of black cherry and some earthiness. Soft and smooth on the palate with good acidity that dominated upon opening, but after 30-45 minutes the fruit burst forth putting the acidity in the background and the wine in a beautiful balance. Enjoyed this with friends at Circa 1886 in Charleston.

I really liked this, needed 3 hours of decant to open up. Nice giving nose of clove, strawberry, herbs, bay leaves, earth, florals and pencil . Fresh and clean palate of dark cherrys, spices, vegetables balsamico and a nice eraser rubber thing. Keep for 3-5 years.

Dark ruby, almost garnet. This is open right away. The nose is a blast of red fruit and brown sugar. Full bodied with high intensity. The palate is immediately coated with pure, juicy, fleshy cherry and strawberry. Some oaky spice swirls around as well, but this is a fruit lovers wine. It is bright, so I believe the acid will keep this in great shape for a while, and the tannins quite firm. Long, showy finish.

This was a real Jekyll and Hyde act, as it teetered between greatness on the nose and insipidity on the palate. Perhaps it is tightly wound, but I could sniff this wine at the bottom of a glass for hours, joyfully grasping at descriptions of new aromas that weave in and out. Upon opening it offers a nose of auto grease, talc/Dove soap, some Pinot noir rustiness, and pretty, smoky red fruit. The palate feels thin and drops off quite …

Meaty aromas and slightly alcoholic once opened, but after an hour there are mineral hints and redcurrant notes. On the palate, low presence of tannins, spicy notes mixed with redcurrant and strawberry. Smooth on the throat, long lasting and creamy finish with a mineral background. A solid Burgundy wine which evolves nicely in the glass, not as elegant as other recently tasted, but very subtle that lets you appreciate every detail of the wine.

Dark color. Slightly roasted/coffee aspect to the aroma. Tannins have calmed down considerably, and the levels of extraction and ripeness, which seemed over the top a few years ago, are now more or less in balance with the fruit and acid.

Pop and pour, and exciting right out of the gate (.375). I was taken aback by the gorgeous aromas of sweet spice and beautiful pinot fruit. In the mouth more surprises, as a balanced, naturally sweet, dusty dry mineral and red and a little black cherry wallop me. Five years old and the tannins are already lining up quite smooth. I let it sit and take air fot most of three hours and it just got better. A lovely and …

Opened and decanted 1 hour. After having the 04 the night before, I expected the 05 to need more time to open before the tannins integrated. It did not. The tannins of the 04 were not present in the 05. Nor was the same earthiness or the medicinal tinge I enjoyed so in the 04. The 05 is still earthy, but it leans toward a more elegant wine. If not for having the 2004, the previous night, I would have …
