Michele Chiarlo Barolo Cerequio

Like the aromatics a lot here. Lots going on here - a core of bright red and dark fruited flavours, higher toned herbal, almost slightly medicinal notes, and more savoury earthy and dark chocolate-like elements. I'm not sure what to make of the palate where it's quite ripe with a luscious, silky mouthfeel but not much apparent structure - it feels relatively low acid and there isn't a lot of apparent tannin here. This was the WOTN for many (the Baudana Ceretta took that place for me). I didn’t record much of my impression, but I recall the elegance and weightlessness of the wine. It was certainly a stand out.

Kobrand Tasting on SoBe. So I didn't like several of the other Chiarlo. But this one and the Canubi (vintage uncertain) were my favourite Nebs at the show (especially this one). Nicely accessable now.

A real gem amongst the many Barolo's served tonight. The wine is light to medium but packs a punch of fruits and aromatics that just rings of elegance. It is savory and yet filled with a potpourri of flavors. One of the best examples of the 19' Barolo's I have had. flavors include oak, cherry and a plentura of other flavors from candy to rose petal.

En Primeur campaign for the 2022 vintage Day Seven (Bordeaux) : Medium minus intensity aromas of black plus and red cherry, slightly oaky notes. Savoury, touch of pot pourri. Medium plus intensity acidity with medium plus intensity tannins which prove quite drying, tight and close the gums and palate. Cherry note does persist. finishes a little bitter...time and lots of it.

Davy's Barolo tasting (Army & Navy Club, Pall Mall) : WOTN- such depth and complexity, this is an eye-roller with incredible perfume, perfectly pure and clean fruit. So light on its feet but concentrated. Drinking fantastically now, there's so much going but it's still coherent- tannins really not that assertive for such a young wine but I think that's more because everything else is so stunning. Wow.
