Super value. Still dense and quite dark and chewy with primary dark cherry fruit and some savoriness and earthiness. Medium finish. Opened up nicely over a couple hours.

Very nice, and while perhaps showing a touch past prime, still extremely enjoyable. Lovely nose with a touch of leathery funk, dried red raspberry, a hint of mulberry. On the palate, acid a bit softer than I would like, but good density, gamey wild cherry, some cola, and a red cherry finish with attenuated tannin.

A beautiful bottle of nicely aged red burg. On the nose, a touch of leather, a hint of stems, some funk and then red fruit, with nice complexity. On the palate, excellent acidity and density, good texture on the palate, with crushed red fruit, attenuated tannin that leans chewy dried red fruit on the finish. Punches way above its paygrade, and just a fantastic btl. To be clear, better than many 1er I have had recently (e.g. the Cacheux Suchots).

Popped and poured. Took a couple of minutes to come around and then was a delicious, fruit driven, burgundy.

Fully mature red and black cherry with dried herbs. Not as good as a couple of bottles from 3 years ago that I then thought would have held longer/ better.

Took about an hour and a half in the decanter to soften. Nice mix of dirty cherry fruit and vanilla. Good finish. Very, very good Burg.

A terrific bottle of wine for a $33 burgundy (purchased at that price 7 years ago) and I would match it against other burgundies 2 or 3 times the price. This wine was drinking beautifully and seem to me to still have enough tannic backbone to go at least another 3 or 4 years before it begins to hit the end of its drinking window. Red cherry flavor predominates, with some black cherry, too. Underneath but clearly present is what …

Similar to another bottle from a few months back. Red cherry aromas with licorice. Mostly tart red cherry on palate with some black cherry hints. Nicely balanced with subtle and elegant structure.

Incredibly impressive for its level, this showcases red cherry aromas with dried herbs. Flavor of both red and black cherry with tarragon and licorice, nicely supported by well integrated tannins and acids. Really impressive tonight, this have the structural strength and fruit to hold well through at least 2016 or 2017. Another great entry level 2005.

Very nice burgundy for a modern style. Upon opening the nose is that standard Croix-Violette smokiness with some bright red berries. Let sit for an hour in a decanter...Smokiness gives way to a bit of brine, the red berries remain - although much like a cross between strawberry and cherry. There is some sweet oak and soil. Decent acid, the tannins won't hold up against the fruit in the long haul; maybe one year left before the downhill slide.

While perhaps the best showing for this wine over the past couple of years, it still remains a straightforward, modern style drinker.

Not a good showing.... The nose is funky, and not in a great way, but there's some creamy red berry fruit in there. On the palate it shows some soil and more red fruit, but there's a distinct heat that comes on and dominates the finish. Overall a bit muddled and out of balance, lacks clarity and focus. I would say maybe this is in a dumb phase and to try again in a year, but I don't think this …

Not much on the nose except an odd menthol quality, decent wild cherry on the palate, and so-so acidity, but the finish falls off a cliff.

This is in a great place right now. Balanced, very Cote de Nuits. This bottle disappeared quickly.

A bit young but after an hour of open bottle time demonstrated a almost ripe cherries with a moderate finish. Leave open 3 hours or wait 2-3 years.

While the nose displayed a nice spicy, earthy quality, the palate was largely absent and uninteresting -- just didn't seem to have much material to warrant further aging. I might be proved wrong, but I would opt in favor of drinking up in the next year or so.

Starts off with some earthy funk and smoke backed by cherries and spice (the '04 had not much else but the funk and smoke). Nice palate with cherries, vanilla, good acidity and a slight herbaceousness. Nice cranberry color fading to clear at the rim. Again, the '05 vintage delivers the goods.

Surprising concentration, and clean Nuits styled pinot flavors. Nice value.

There was some initial sulphur funk on the nose, but it soon blew off. After it did, this was a very nice, simple, and surprisingly balanced every-day pinot. I love how the French do everyday wines. There is never any of that dastardly green that I find in so many everyday American wines.

Sour cherries and spice on the nose; palate is fleshy with rich cherry fruit, but nicely structured and firm. Nose develops a cherry-vanilla-cola quality. Comes across as sort of a new world style with old world sensibility. Nice villages level wine -- not mind blowing, but solid. Drink over the next couple of years.

No notes taken. Consistent with prior bottles, but seems to be taking on some secondary characteristics of earth and minerals.
