A lovely wine with my roast beef. Showing a nice progression from a fruit forward California to a mature expression of Cabernet. Nice acidity for the food but an elegant, softt mouth feel . This is why I like to cellar wine for a few years.

A little mediciney on the nose just out of the bottle. This blows off quickly and is followed by tartness with toastiness. Then I get some caramel and cherry. There is acid and there is tannin, but they are not well integrated. The palate starts with the tart cherry and finishes with a bit of green pepper. Not unpleasant, but also not building to a big finish of Cab fruit.

No score as it was the last bottle of the night, but this was quite tasty, with nice dark fruits complimented by a dusty oak component. Not sure this improves with more cellar time, but I think it should drink well for a few more years.

Tannins have softened nicely and bouquet and taste was right on without need for 1-4 hrs of oxidation

Very nice well rounded Napa Cab. The oakiness level is in check, whch allows the fruit to strand front and center while maintaining a smooth and well polished finish. Good balance between acid and tannin.

This has lost too much fruit. There is nothing off in this wine but it was significantly better in it's youth and becoming typical for the 2004 vintage for many napa producers.

Not as good as the '05. Nose is pretty quite on this bottle, even on day 2. Has a little of the classic Cab aroma, but doesn't quite come together.

I really like the new oak in this wine. The vanilla is still pronouced but not over powering. Good color and body, this was a real good value and will likely last another 2 to 4 years.

We drank the Caymus 1991, The Dead Arm 2005 and Beringer Napa 2004 on the annual golf trip. No surprises on the tastings - The Caymus has held up well, the color was slightly brown on the edge but in real good shape, the body was medium, the fruit and oak was light and enjoyable. We had this one first as if it were a Pinot to start the evening. The Dead Arm was the third wine the first evening …

Dark color, nice body. This wine has gotten better with age and is drinking at its peak. Soft, round mouth feel, mix of berry and dark fruit flavors that linger at the finish. I wish I had more.

Very nice priced easy drinker. Fruity (mostly dried fruits), very soft and gentle. The bottle dissapeared very quick.

nice nose of blackberries and oak. Supple mouth feel with juicy black currant flavors. Still primary but very tasty. Decent finish softened with air.

Drank the Honig 05 and Beringer Napa 04 at the Millers last night. Both were good and about equal in quality. The Honig is drinking at its peak , it will not get any better, the color was good and body a little lighter than the Beringer. The Honig had a nice balance of light oak and fruit but the finish did not last long. The Beringer has more time left, the flavors were a little more complex and the …

Blind Tasting in Evanston (Tina's condo): '68 Heitz reg cab, '68 Antonio Vallana Spanna, '2005 Cliff Lede cab (Wine Library blind tasting winner), 2004 Beringer cab (Wine Library blind tasting loser). Notes: "Lowest rated of 3. Paul noticed unfortunate residual sweetness."
