Light/thin body. Dark ruby. Cherry notes. Short finish. More acidic than I would have guessed.

Ok, but probably past it's prime.

Always pleasant, a great wine from a stellar vintage. Behind the lively fruit and floral aromatics there is serious weight and grip to this.

Appealing aromatics, including violets and ripe berry fruit. Strong acid, bold, ridiculously juicy. Solid finish, highly enjoyable.

This is a stunner! It is more concentrated and layered than the 2012 Briccotondo Barbera. Smells flower garden, minerals, and rich farming soils. Palate staining purple, incredibly juicy attack with strong notes of violets. Grainy and 'dirty' mid palate, akin to face planting in the vineyard with an open mouth, rounded. Gripping finish of considerable length. A great value.

Ruby in color, on the nose are prune, cherry and soft plum. On the palate the tannins are quite smooth and well-balanced, and tart fruit fleshes out the body which is medium but with all that going on feels fuller. It says 13% on the bottle but there’s good alcohol in the back of my throat. There is some floral note as well – rose, perhaps? It is bold but has some of that rustic note you expect in Piedmont …

Clear, ruby to garnet, medium intensity, medium viscosity. The nose is clean, medium intensity, medium complexity, with aromas of blueberries, blue plums and violets. The palate is dry, with medium (+) alcohol, medium acidity, low to medium (-) tannins, medium smoothness and medium (-) minerality. The wine is moderately balanced, skewed slightly towards softness. It is ready to drink, not likely to improve considerably with further ageing.

Soft tannin, and a cherry finish. Wonderful medium bodiedl red wine. Kinds like a Rioja without any leather.

Purple-brick opacity, nice fruit--cherry, plum, raisin--on the palate. Excellent with food.

Good high-toned fruit on the nose. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium-weight but full body. Linear palate of tart red fruit and well-balanced acidity and tannin. A little bit of sweetness darts into the mid-palate and finishes with some Italian bitterness. Good juice for $45 off the list at Rogue 24.

$28/btl on the list at Tavolino. 13% abv my ass- initially this is quite alcoholic on the nose and palate, even at cellar temperature. Given some time in the glass, the alc is tamed down. Fairly dark color, with notes of cherry, raspberry, mineral and lavender, with hints of rose petals, dust and tar. Medium- to full-bodied, with firm tannins and bright acidity. Red berries, violets, minerals and raspberry on the palate. Hints of vanilla and cherries on the finish.

Weekly tasting group #028; Italy: Piedmont (@ My place) : Clear transparent purple red. In the bouquet a lot of cherries and also some lactic impressions. In the mouth candy flavors, strawberries and just a little soft tannin. Ok freshness and some bitterness in the finish. A simple wine.

Light, fruity, tangy and food-friendly -- pretty much exactly what you want and expect from Dolcetto. Also had some tannic backbone though. Grew a little disjointed after being resealed and sitting for a few days. Drink up!

Purplish-red color. Light-bodied for a 13% abv wine. Let breathe for about 30 minutes. Savory more than fruity. Clove and mint on the nose. Spicy earthiness on the palate. Smooth, refreshing, delightful with (in) minestrone.
