Really impressed by this wine especially given the price. Pulled from the back of the cellar not expecting much. Deep dark purple in the glass with minimal clearing. Very aromatic with cigar box, game , dried fruits and smoke. Wine is full bodied and richly layered with powerful fruit with a slightly raisiny quality in a very good way. Acidity and tannins still present. Long, powerful finish with enough acidity to suggest it could go another 5+ years. Nice surprise!

Very mellow, with well-integrated oak and some spiciness to accent its full body. This got better the second night and when I returned to it after 4 nights was still drinking well. I may keep last bottle for quite a few more years.

Improving. Nose is more expressive, the oakiness subsiding. Regrettably, drank other bottles too early. Lesser on finish and faded a bit 2+ hours after decant, otherwise would have earned a higher score from me.

PnP., but two hours later the oak dominates and overwhelms.

Inky black color. Takes three hours in the decanter to show a black fruit, licorice and vanilla nose. Blackberry with lots of vanilla and too much oak. If the oak subsides with time, this could be an exceptional wine. Will wait a few years to consume remaining bottles. Score partially based upon perceived potential.

This has opened up a bit from the last time I tasted it. Big and bold - strikes me as more of a food wine, to go with steak or some such. SO much weight it almost feels like an Amarone. Really great structure.

Started off sour; became more berry-like flavored, richly -- not in a bad way -- as the evening progressed. Decant or wait.

The colour of the Taurasi was almost pitch black. Perhaps a bit surprising for a Taurasi, which has got the reputation of a minimally brighter tint (especially compared to Lacrima or a few others). Maybe I got a few indications of minor dark red reflexes!?! The particle-situation seemed very “server”. I just say: plenty of dark solid matter at the bottom! The nose was influenced by strong fragrances of substantially strong dark fruit fragrances and plenty of civilized smoke, regional …

Medium to full body. Dried cherry and earthy on the palate. Dry and gripping tannins. Food wine all the way. I think this will develop mor earthiness in another two or three years.

Decanted 1 hr. Dark, black colour, Very fragrant with liquorice, cherry cola, Some smoked bacon and pepper. Plenty of Oak, cedar and floral notes as well. Tannins were not overpowering, full bodied and quite smooth. Very nice, has the body to age a few more years.

A much bigger wine than I expected. Deep and intense dark fruit with a slight chocolate covered raisin feel. Dry and unforgiving tannins. Food is a must with this wine.

Not sure what to think of this wine. Great dark and smoky nose. It is very modern, thick and dark in style, with blackberries, black cherries, licorice, tobacco and smoke. An awful lot of oak in here, and its not very elegant, just too much for my palate and lacking some acidity too. The grape tannins are smooth but the oak tannins are very prominent and astringent on the finish. It is a wine I can drink a glas of, …

Had it, loved it - didn't write any notes as I was putting it under some nitrogen and figured I would comment once I had more time to ponder, came back from 2 weeks with inert gas and it wasn't the same. I'll get another bottle (if I can) and post something more meaningful. What I do remeber was great balance, depth and concentration.

A very modern style Taurasi, Inky color with Blackberry, Vanilla, licorice, gorgeous floral notes, and loads of toasted oak that is integrated just right. This is soft and silky on the plate. A very delicious wine. ( Picture a Cali cab + Brunello) - JD91+

Decanted for 2 hours. It's very nice and prominent on the nose with lots of liquorice, dark fruits, spices and earthy scents. On the other hand, it's rather restrained on the palate but still able to deliver nice black fruits and prunes with a nice bitter end. It's full bodied, mouthcoating, but the tannins are still a bit harsh with slightly high astringency. This is good wine overall, but I'm not sure I will buy it again.

Dark color, looks like a baby. On the nose, what is up with the oak??? If I was served this blind, there is no way I would've guessed this to be a Taurasi. Ripe fruit, with a creamy vanilla floral thing going on. On the palate, too much oak for sure. Shows more like a New World wine than what one would usually expect from a Taurasi. Fairly low acidity, lots of dark fruit, and that's about it. Tannins have …

Very unique profile to the wine. Inky dark with lots of licorice, tar and dark cherries notes. Vibrant acidity on the palate. Very modern construction but very seductive. A good bargain at 25$. Tannins are rather grainy and the finish medium. After 1 hour in the glass, it became a little disjointed, fruit faded and tannins more pronounced. Still has elegance on the palate. Not sure about it aging for a long time but it was enjoyable right now.

Decanted and started trying after 1.5 hours, now about 3.5 hours. This is a big, extracted wine. Dark purple. Scorched earth, raspberry, cranberry, dark roast coffee, anise on the nose. Medium full in body it is nevertheless quite supple. Hard fruit profile, sort of a chocolatey cranberry - rich but with immense acidity. Big tannins almost matching the acidity on the back end. This one is a strapping big boy that provides pleasure now, but really needs a few years …

Big nose of ripe dark and red fruit: cherry, plum, raspberry, blueberry. Some earthiness, herbs, mocha and liquorice. Full-bodied with a reasonable grip of ripe tannins and medium high acidity. Big fruit, earthy, herbaceous and floral. Long with dark chocolaty oakiness in the finish. Drinking amazingly well already.

full body, ripe plum and cherry. however, a wine for an impressive first swallow - a typical "parker" wine - great but full and fat.
