Battle of Bosworth, Shiraz, McLaren Vale

An inky dark red with youthful hues towards the rim, the nose is typical McLaren Vale with brooding dark fruits and a slight vanillin richness. The palate is laced with dark chocolate, the tannins are layered,framing and in proportion with the wines dense plum core. There is good balance with a minerality and freshness to the wine. It is tightly coiled now but will unravel secondary complexity in years to come. Excellent length of dark fruits and spice to finish. …

A lovely dark red plum core thinning slightly to a red/pink edge. Soft red fruit in a lovely seasoned balance of flavours. Gentle and persuasive. Plently of life left in the wine for a few more years cellaring but don't leave it too long. A warm red with maybe a touch of excessive alcolhol at the moment. Soft tannins. Colour 5/ Aroma 12/ Taste 15/ Ageing 8

Brandy loved it. (Angie did too.) I thought it needed to air out a bit before drinking. Brandy probably woul give it an 89 or a 90. 85 for me (Derek). Black current and plum.

With a rich nose of plums and spice, this Shiraz is also possessed of a certain earthiness, which when combined with notes of licorice, cloves, leather and excellent oak makes for a delicious, well-balanced wine. The palate is soft and juicy, though the structure robust.

Gets better with the 2nd glass. Wife kept drinking from my glass. Would buy more again!
