Camp fire and dark fruits, the taut core is starting to loosen. Not over the hill but based on this showing, certainly not going to get any better. Oddly K enjoyed it more than I did, which is unusual for mature syrah.

Last bottle of six - now fully mature I think - plums and spices with sweet fruit and some length, enjoyable without being stunning - slightly expensive for this quality.

Semble avoir un peu de réduction, fané, moins éclatant. Sur les prunes et le cuire surtout. Légère touche de poivre avec une finale courte et un peu asséchante. Nous a semblé sur sa pente descendante cette bouteille.

Hmm - needs chewing. But then is lovely. Bouquet black pepper and plums and a tad less than I expected. A depth of leather, black cherry, burnt jam. Still some tannin but agree coming to the end of the drinking window. But still very, very good. Would happily drink more tomorrow.

Mostly tertiary baked fruit slightly balsamic note. A bit unfocused but have always found this vintage so. Time to drink up.

I let this breathe for about 3 hours without a taste. It was lush, leather and chocolate is what it somewhat reminded me of. Black fruit with soft tannins. I paired with butter poached lobster, risotto with saffron, mushrooms and summer squash. Went very, very well.

Soft and elegant with generous dark fruits, a spicy finish and a lovely rounded profile. Sharp acidity on the finish helps give definiton and framework to the effortlessly charming entry. This is really coming together following an awkward showing 2 years back.

One of my first allocations from the Wine Society Cellar Plan, in 2011. Last bottle of six, and it just gets better and better. Full, complex, long, well-balanced - you know, all the stuff you don't understand when you start out (and probably don't now!) I wish I'd drunk all bottles two or three years later (the WS is quite conservative with drinking windows). And all the Thalabert I've bought since has always increased in value from en primeur prices.

Almost no fruit left, peppery, herby, mineral especially iron, oak. Not at all pleasant by the next day, a touch dry & woody on the finish. Past its best to begin with I suspect. To be fair, I have been keeping it in a kitchen cupboard, the temperature of which varies (slowly) from 10ish degrees in winter to 22ish degrees at the height of summer. I've never had a problem with any wines I've kept under these conditions, and wines …

Quite closed & indistinct even after decanting, much better second day gaining fruit clarity & comolexity.

Plenty of brambly fruit. Some black pepper and an earthiness. Felt lighter on the palate than some Crozes, but very pure fruit.

At first a bit muted definite signs of age, cooked fruits mushrooms, a little one dimensional. However after an hour developing more defined black fruit, olives, charcoal flavours more interesting. Good to drink now, needs decanting though. No rush but probably as good as its going to get.

Clear, blackish iodine colour with a brownish rim, and hundreds of slow-moving thin tears. Clean, med+ intensity, aromas of blackcurrants, Mulberries, stewed blackberries, pencil shavings, hawthorn, and grassy notes. Dry, med- body, med- acidity, softened but med tannins, med alcohol, with further tastes of black cherries, pu'er tea leaves, prunes, smokiness, unripe Kalamata olives, ground black pepper, and slight anise seeds. Not as impressed as I thought I would be - a bit flabby and lacking punch, med finish. All …

Goodness me, this wine has developed beautifully over the last couple of years. Cherry and spice, beautifully balanced and quite elegant.. Great value and deserving of its reputation as a top Crozes.

nose of ripe fruit and and salty/rusty flavour. subtle oak. Silky entry with well rounded midpalate although there is a sense that the alcohol dominates on the finish. Lacking the character of first bottle and somewhat underwhelming.

Strong aromas of black fruit and black pepper. Some leathery notes also. Palate has a nice core of ripe fruit and some savoury flavors. Pretty much a typical Crozes which is drinking well now.

My second bottle, 12 months on. Much more integrated, ready for drinking. Quite complex and very smooth. Medium finish. Very good.No great rush to drink up the other 4.
