Still holding good fruit, with cherry flavor and some tannin. Sorry it is the last bottle.

I was disappointed by this bottle of Sangiovese. The nose was nice, but the wine felt too thin on the palate. It had some nice, restrained acidity but not much else to it. For the money, there are better wines on the market. Perhaps it is past its prime.

Light, with cherry notes. More fruit forward than the previous bottle and enjoyed it more. Paired with a pasta, scallops, and pesto dish.

Bouquet isn't bad but it's thin and a bit rough. Not very full flavored. Disappointing. Cork was dry so maybe that was the issue. We'll taste again on the next bottle.

A disappointing bottle. Lacked complexity with a very thin mouthfeel. Drank within an hour after opening paired with meat ravioli and marinara sauce. Food swamped the flavors of the wine. Cork was VERY difficult to extract (broke Screwpull handle) with limited coloration on cork, none on the sides so no seepage. Hopefully next bottle will be better.

Solid, slightly rustic traditional chianti. Earth, leather and red/black fruits on the nose. This got much better after 2 hrs open. Became smoother, more elegant, with nice red fruits, earth, leather, strong acidity (maybe too strong) and drying tannins on the finish. This has plenty time left.

No formal notes taken. This was poured along side the 2009 Castello della Paneretta Chianti Classico. Very interesting as these are stylistically opposed; the Savignola Paolina tending to the more modern, drink now style, and the Paneretta very traditional. The Savignola Paolina was darker in color and offered dark aromas, including dark fruits and a slight new oak component. Palate entry is fairly smooth and lush in body, but offered a strong wood tannins sensation throughout, whereas the Paneretta was …

I think I have a lot to learn about chianti classico. This wine was very dry when opened, with little fruit. Decanted, it gratually opened up with some cherry flavors. Fruit was even more evident when paired with a dish that included slow simmered onions, tomatoes, and red peppers. Perhaps it still needs some aging.

Great with Italian food-needs acid from tomatoes to make it shine.

Pure nose, textbook sangiovese with a high altitude/cool vintage personality: sour red and black cherries, cranberries and grapefruit, black tea, gravel and herbs. Freshly structured taste with nice grip, cool reserved fruit that finishes with that apetizing bitter sangio bite. Classic, classy and food-oriented. Needs an hour in the carafe to open up, and two to drink at its best. Looks set to develop well for another five years. A bargain at 99 dkk/sek from Carlo Merolli.
