Definitely not too old, in fact this is right in its sweet spot. Smooth dark fruit, a hint of licorice, some pepper and spice, with a nice finish. Drinking nicely.

Too old, maybe partially corked.

Dark and opaque, but clean. Grenache nose and is typical Southern Rhone in taste. Tannins nearly resolved, but not quite. Mix of garrigue, cedar, bloody meat. Lots of life left.

Dark red-garnet color. PNP. Drank 2 glasses over 2 hours. Nose shows dry forest floor, ripe cherry and berry fruit, dry herbs. The palate is medium bodied, full of lovely dark berry and dark cherry flavors, Herb de Provence, spices, fine tannins, medium finish. Drinking beautifully now. 90+pts.

P&P. Cork has plastic wrap over top and bottom. Seepage about halfway up cork but not completely compromised. Initial funk on the nose, also reflected on the palate, blew off after about 30 min. Ripe red berries and integrated tannins. I agree with Giggs that this is a tiny bit overextracted, so it was missing the more delicate floral notes and acidity suffered tad bit as well. In other words, this tends towards a more modern style and thus reflects …

60degree, P&P. Deep purple. Nose of purple fruit and loam. Full mouth feel with well integrated tannins. Fruit (purple, blackberry). Long finish. Overall, somewhat heavy feeling despite being paired with a grilled T-bone. I think there is bottle variation in this wine although it could just be that I have been drinking lighter wines lately.

'Should Have Stopped at 3' Wine Night/Ian and Alex : Revisited with success. ... Decanted two hours or so. ... Initial odor was cherry, cherry, and more cherry, which went along with the deep color. ... Similar drinking experience as before; cheese brings out some sweetness. ... Interesting spicy licorice mix. ... All in all just a nice wine with or without edibles.

Decanted 2 hours. Similar to 9/4/2011 bottle. Strong nose of black cherries, mocha, subtle bacon, and a faint bretty aroma that really detracts from what this could be--several of these have been corked, which this bottle was not, but these are bottled under inferior corks that have an odd plastic casing, and there are obvious closure issues. Palate is very juicy, expressive, sweet red cherry liqueur, perhaps a touch overextracted, but still a very tasty wine despite its flaws.

P&P, room temp 64F. Deep purple. Cranberries and pepper on slightly reticent nose. Nice integrated tannins with moderate mouthfeel. Fruit (subtle) with mineral and spice. Not nearly as jammy or blackberry as I remember. Is it the lower temp? Nice finish with mellowing of tannins. Nice drinker.

Drinking nicely. Deep dark fruit kept in balance by tannins and acids. The long finish screams Rhone.

Dark garnet with chocolate hue. Great nose of black cherries, raspberries, ground coffee bean, mocha, and bacon. Picks up some herbal/tobacco tones in the decanter. Palate has high acidity, juicy dark red fruit, licorice spice, leading to reasonable tannins with a subtle bitterness on the finish. 90+

Deep red with hin of brown/orange. Full nose with plum and jammy. Nice mid wieght mouth feel with good acid and tannins. Not as much fruit as nose promises but some and balanced. Also something else, a hint of oxidation perhaps but not a fault. Maybe more like dried fruit - prunes! Respectable finish.

Dark purple with moderate nose of jam, black fruit, maybe a bit something organic, but mostly dominated by fruit. Opened and poured, room temp (70). On the palate nice balance of fruit and mineral with good acidity and moderate soft tannins. Long finish of fruit, tannins and something a bit bitter. Very well made/structured. Should last a while more. Not nearly heavy or fat as I had remembered.

This bottle showed very nicely, showing deep and dark berry and spice. Good balancing acidity and a nice finish. Too bad it's my last one!

I knew there was a problem as soon as the corkscrew sunk into the cork - it was way too soft. Then, it pulled out too easily (surprisingly, it didn't leak). Tasted the wine, and, yep, it was off. Not too far off, still barely drinkable but not enjoyable.

Drank over 2 days. Again, loved this. Didn't get the stemmy and bitter finish that I got with the last bottle, so perhaps some bottle variation with this wine. In any case, this is a new-worldish effort with some nice blackberry and baking spice. Good balance with nice acidity. Tannins could still use some softening. Noticed a little heat this time on the finish that I hadn't noticed on the previous bottles.

Getting beef jerky and blackberry jam on the nose. Someone else mentioned iron, which I can see. Palate is nice. Beautiful expression of fruit -- typically restrained Rhone, but good dark berry notes. Mid-palate has a funky bitter edge with some tar flavors. Fades to cherry with nice acid and some still prominent tannins. I totally blew this on the first bottle I opened six or eight months ago. It didn't do anything for me. Not sure what I missed …

A 92 on a QPR basis. A very well-made wine in a traditional style. Needed 24 hours to open up. I'm sure this wine will benefit from a few years of bottle age. A real indication of the vintage's quality in the right hands. Cherries and earth, good acidity.

Unfortunately I killed the last of my great everyday drinkers... just can't beat the QPR if you like a more traditional style (austere and minerally), but with some nice red and black fruits and spices added in.

Rhones with Kevin at Chateau Glas (Chateau Glas) : Medium purple. Nose is subtle with cherry, raspberries, and spice. On the palate it shows a lot of fruit and a bit of spice. Medium finish but nothing off the charts. A good wine but not the Grand Veneur from Lirac!
