Assenovgrad Mavrud Reserve

Decanted for an some 20 mins. A ruby red colour. The nose is quite nice a bit of smokiness and vanilla on top of red berries, quite nice! The palate initially was rather flat and uninteresting, but with airtime and with food, it gains a nice sweetness, red fruit, a medium bodied wine. My first wine with the varietal Mavrud, and it is rather nice. For a cheap wine (4-5 euros in a Bulgarian supermarket), this is excellent!
