Hmm seems a bit more shut down than my previous bottles. This one was not winery-direct. Still solid though. 91?

Blind in a lineup of Oregon/Burgundy chardonnay; this was lovely; hint of reduction/gunflint, mineral, saline, floral, yellow/green orchard fruits with citrus; the palate is fine, elegant, mineral driven, but with good intensity of fruit and excellently judged acidity. This was excellent and one of my favorite from the line up.

(Blind) Exceptional precision - a laser beam of acidity with tension for days. Bright lemon with yellow flowers on the finish. Spectacular energy with balance, my favorite out of a blind lineup of 12 Oregon Chardonnays and Premier Cru white Burgundies. Diam 10.

$75 Plus Cabernet Event (Scott and Amy's House Twin Cities) : Day 2: This is for sure not a pop and pour wine and when sampled at the winery gave it 94 on day 3. On day 1 tight and not very much heppeneing where as day 2 opening up for business. Shells, minerals, sour apple, wood, white flowers, pear and tropical fruit. Medium plus finish and nice concentration and acidity. Drink these for another 10 plus years.

Blind cabernet and a couple chardonnay (Amy and Scotts house) : Drank blind, this reminds me of a young Chablis. Sea breeze, dank funk and light citrus. It would be fun to try this in 5-10 years.

Oregon August 2025; 8/22/2025-8/25/2025 (Willamette Valley) : Pleasant hazelnut-tinged reduction on the nose, really nice salinity and lemon rind on the palate. Great acidity as well, should develop nicely. 53% new oak but you’d never guess it. My favorite Morgen Long today.

Chalk, stone, bread dough, lemon peel and lime on the nose. Smells like it's going to have great acid, with a medium intensity of aromas. Palate shows salinity, ripe melon, ripe white peach, bread dough, chalk and sea stone. Medium intensity of flavors, and both the nose and palate clearly need time. Finishes with wood and vanilla. Medium body with beautifully high acid, among the best acid I've ever had on an American Chardonnay. Hold 3-5 years from here.

This was a pretty severe, almost austere, wine at this point in its life. Right now this is all about non-fruit smells and flavors; the impression is of chalk, rocks, salt, ginger, and peppery spice with bright acid and mouth-filling grip and chew. A bit of popcorn on the nose, probably some combination of malo, oak, reduction. This had more reduction than the WV cuvee; across the wines the reduction comes across somewhat different than Goodfellow or Walter Scott which …

2023 Morgen Long Chardonnay Tasting (Morgen Long Winery, Willamette Valley) : 53% new oak/47% older. Diam 10 closure. Loved this wine with apricots, chalk, spice, wood, saline, minerals and Myers lemon. Medium plus finish and nice acidity. 94+ Day 7 Review. So only this and the Willamette didn't make it to day 7 but again cool Seth saved these for me.
