Lutum, you saved the best for last (bottle). My pinot vocabulary is inadequate, won't comment on the nose, but the taste was really great, the flavor was lots of barnyard, balanced with fruit, fully expressed w/o awkwardness or excess. Served with wild salmon, worked well. Edit; yea, I see i kind of ripped on it in 2019. Not the same wine now!

Method: 68 degrees; hour+ decant; Burgundy glass Look: pale- garnet; fast legs Nose: forest floor, tree bark, spicy baking spices, light fresh dill, dried cranberry, light color Palate: cranberry, light dried herbs, unripe strawberry; restrained palate; [unintentionally omitted notes on the finish]; dry; medium- body, decently silky mouthfeel; medium- tannin; medium+ acid Overall: I'm honestly not a big fan of cranberry, and I like more complexity from lighter reds like this. It's restrained enough to not make too much of …

Very sad to be done with this vintage from Lutum. It is drinking really well right now with little acid/tannin tast - just great light fruit. It was an explosion of taste in your mouth when it hit the taste buds with a nice finish.

Not my favorite Lutum, but it is enjoyable. Opened up after some time in the glass.

Red wine is a pH indicator. Try it. Thin some out with water. Add a bit of baking soda. Voila, Bleu! Now a little vinegar, and presto! Red/pink! The same behavior as litmus. Go back and forth, it keeps changing. Hence that blue flash when you throw leftover vin rouge into a sink with a soap film. The reason for this digression; this wine's color. It is pretty much at the transition point, both red and purple-blue visible. Right there, …

This was a very nice Pinot, but alas it still falls within the new world category; singular, unidimensional and not worth a layer look like its true Burgundy bedfellow. If you want a predictable Sonoma Pinot, this is your gal. If you want a noteworthy greater than+93 points, head to France. (And who would rate this greater than+95 points...really?). Cheers.

More full bodied that most Lutum (with that said still medium bodied at best). Syrupy red fruit, cloves, cola, minerals, and underbrush. Tons of tart cranberry on the finish. Needs several more years to fully come around. Definitely Northern California fruit.

Bright, light ruby color. Lighter bodied, elegant, Burgundian style. Firm backbone braces the delicate, strawberry/raspberry flavors. Really enjoyed this one. Will be better in a few years.

Lighter ruby red in color....light red fruit, dried strawberries, with a bit of earthen minerality, but not overbearing....Much more like a cool climate pinot in body and on the palate. Really enjoyed this bottle as we do most of GC's wines.

Martine's Wines with Martine Saunier (Formento's - Chicago IL) : Tasting, brief note. Bright floral start with red berries. Slightly sweet fruit with Asian five spice and a persistent, well balanced character. Very tasty now, a step up vs Durell for me.

2013 is the first vintage for the Gap’s Crown, and it showed tremendous potential. The nose showed dark red fruits with floral tones, spice and hints of licorice reaching up from the glass. On the palate, it showed tremendous depth with dark-red fruit and exotic spice which gave way to a youthful tannic tug through the finish. The richness and density here alone was remarkable, yet perfectly balanced by juicy acidity.
